Building, Painting & Weathering the Roundhouse
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Hi! I´m presenting some of my painting and weathering techniques for brick wall buildings. The subject is a 6-port roundhouse with matching water tower. The roundhouse is then integrated into a Locomotive yard with turntable and related track works.

Spouse: „Darling, have you seen my old home Jeans?” Model railway worker: “No” 😁 Great good tutorial. 👍🏻
Thank you so much for your intelligent, creative & fun videos. My wife & I watch them together, & we have invented the Marklin Drinking Game: every time you say "PVA glue" we have another drink. (And yes, we have actually built a railway!)
This roundhouse is a fantastic kit. I built one several years ago. The fit of all parts was the best I've ever seen. Thanks for all the great weathering and painting instructions. A beautiful module.
I have been in this hobby for 55 years ~ yet I always learn something new while watching your videos.

Hi Thomas! That’s great. I learn something new for my hobby everyday too. That’s what keeps me going.
Einfach nur cool, mit welch einfachen Tipps man tolle Erfolge erzielen kann.
I love the way your locomotives will crawl along without any jerky movements
Wow nice video
I have been searching for a video like this for quite a while, many many thx sir!!
Very well done thank you for sharing!!!
Still surprises me how many new tips you present in every new video. Awesome video once again!
Love all the details, - it’s so satisfying to watch! 🤓
I'm totally new to all of this. I got a love of it from my grandfather and an uncle, and now in covid lockdown I'm learning loads and loving it!
Hi Martin! You know I am a big fan of your work! Thank you for this video. I like your friendly presentation! 😊😊😊😊
....simply thank you for your great videos! It's so simply because it's oldschool. I like oldschool!!!!!!!!! lovely great's from germany Jörg
wow a nice and simple kit. bit of paint and weathering. came out really nicely. adding the brick work inside was a great touch. fabulous finished scene
Thank you once again, what a lovely tutorial, take care as always from South Africa
You are truly an artist. Not sure I'll ever do any of this stuff but love watching you work.
Beautiful Work! The morter between the bricks. The servo operation of the doors. The soldering of the stainless steel track... Really much needed information! Thanks again, so much, MarklinofSweeden!
In the Future you will be one of my main source on how to do it. Many thanks for your Videos and keep on doing what you do. Best regards Nils
I have always liked the look of the roundhouse used so frequently in many continental european countries, I wish we used them more frequently in the UK. Very nice and informative video as always!
Thank you for your very practical recommendations. I will be happy to apply them. Many greetings from Southern Germany.
The quality of that kit is really amazing to snap together and fit so well. I live in a town in the states that had one of the largest roundhouses West of the Missouri River. I can tell you the floor and service pits were a accumulation of oil, grease and dirt! Yours is WAY TO CLEAN!
10:35 before the first use of Burnt umber! :-) I was getting worried! Great job!
Absolutely AMAZING. I watch every video I can of yours.
Wieder ein sehr informatives Video von dir. Schönes Wochenende.
Absolutely fantastic looking diorama! The whole piece is very realistic looking and the instructions were very clear and precise. Thanks for sharing this.
Great modeling work! I like your weathering!
Great video and great results!!! Well done.
Another amazing tutorial, love your videos! So informative.
I am enjoying your videos, thanks for posting.
Fantastic job! your weathering is very subtle but it makes a huge difference!
Very nice work - the roundhouse looks great
Fully enjoyed this video! Great as always! :) Like idea, that track goes through round turnout (table) and depo sits aside.. Very good for space tight layouts and for future layout extending.. ;) Usually, depo with round table is at the track end.. These lamp posts with connectors was something new to me..
Brilliant video and tutorial, thank you.
That looks fantastic. The kit looks great too😊😊
Very nice! Great job 😉👍🏻
Excellent work Martin......keep it up.
I love your vídeo and your explaination of this scenary. 🎉🎉
Very nice work!
Beautiful work as usual!
The 6-stall roundhouse model resembles a similar one at Greenfield Village/Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI, except their turntable is 'hand-powered' and they often get children to help turn it. I also have 2 of the 3-stall Kibri kits and plan to use your tips on finishing them. Thank you for the instructions. Great work!
Thank you for this tutorial 👍👍👍
Tack för en väldigt fin video och speciellt för det speciella flussmedlet.

Very good tutorial Martin 👍.
Stunningly lifelike, great video
You are doing a really great job. I love this!
Great video!
Very realistic diorama 😍
Amazing pace into the small world of trains. / Så härligt att höra din entusiastiska ton, och samtidigt ta del av din stora kunskap. Hälsningar från Märklinentusiast sedan 1955.
Always as usual.........GREAT!
A very detailed Roundhouse and a nice diorama. I am also building a 6 bay roundhouse that is being 3D printed for me. The creator made a mistake on the front walls and doors, he did not allow for the tracks. I think he is redrawing them now, but after seeing this video I saw the doors are shaped to go over the track. I also want to open and close the doors. I will use servos with control via an Arduino board with an Uno 3. I think I will try and cut the door and see if that is ok or not. Many thanks. Martin (Thailand)
Very informative as usual. Great work thank you.
Superb !
Perfect as usual wish I had the patience for that quality
Sehr schönes Video. Ich bau viele Gebäude selber, aber kürzlich habe ich auch ein Kibri Steckgebäudeohne Kleber verbaut.Genial. Habe wieder diverse interessante in diesem Video gesehen und gelernt.
De nuevo un gran vídeo! Saludos!
that's awesome!
Nice to meet you. Sorry for the clumsy English. It was very useful for dirtying the brick station we are making now. Thank you very much.
Magnifique présentation
I am always impressed with your weathering methods. Great video thank you.

1000x thx Martin!!!!!!!
You are a huge inspiration when I'm working on my layout. I watch your videos and have them playing in the background while I work and it motivates me to take that extra step to get something done or make.it look that much more realistic.

Du hast tolle sachen, gratuliere!
Nice roundhouse! I'm doing a modern Walthers one.
Sehr nett
Gratulation. Ein ganz tolles und informatives Video. Es spornt an und macht Lust auf mehr....
amazing
Great video 👌👍😃😲
Dude, you look like one of my Bible college professors, that’s crazy man! Thanks for the tutorial! 😂
Very nice
I like it very much !!!
I connected the servoes to the track power through a home made controller, so when the track is turned on, then the doors open. No power = no movement = closed doors. :-) (I can turn on/off all 12 tracks in the round house individually)
Bello bello 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
To make hinge, paper clip often fits perfect into a syringe needle used to fill printers.
Det ser så enkelt ut, Martin! Men har man erfarenhet så har man.
A very amazon Video. Thank you. Great. 👍greets lui

Richtig toll gemacht 👍 ich baue meine Gebäude ja selber, aber das Modell ist auch sehr schön geworden. Die Automatischen Türen haben mir gut gefallen 👍LG Tino

Nic video
What if you were to glue a character's hand to the door so the person's feet were floating over the floor so it would look like he was pushing the door open
Outstanding work, as usual! Great to see roundhouse of Ottbergen. Have you been to the "Bundesmodellbahn" of Karl Fischer's Ottbergen layout? It is located in a little town, called Brakel, just between the cities of Hannover and Dortmund. Really worth to visit, highly recommended!
Very nice ! Love the moving Doors, but why the crack in the glass ? Otherwise a very well made kit . Thanks for the video.
👍👍👍 Fim.
for K-track, it is very easy to simply solder wires to rail joiners. cabin-layout.mixmox.com/2005/07/laying-k-track.html
My scool is in ottbergen!
Well done, the only thing I would change is the speed in which the doors close.

Thank you! Yepp! Me too, but that would require a much more complicated driver circuit. Simply outside of my knowledge of electronic design..

marklinofsweden Here in the Netherlands we have a website called Arcomora: www.arcomora.com/ . They sell a cheap Arduino + DCC shield for about €10. This will give you the opportunity to program your servos very easyly and make that time about 9 seconds instead of 1. No need for programming skills, the interface is easy to use and allows all kind of possibilities. I use it to switch 3 way switches with the cheapest Chinese servos available.
