Building my ideal work shop with shipping containers

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I built this 48x40 with the majority of materials that I purchased off of the used market. It has been very useful so far.

Took me half an hour to find this channel. I started watching right after I ate supper and I fell asleep half way through it. All I could remember is the channel name said redneck something. Glad I found you again. Now I can watch the rest of the build!!!!!!!!!!! 😀

Awesome. Glad you were able to find it again! I have fallen asleep half way through many KZread videos. Lol. If it’s something I’m interested in, I try to remember to subscribe before I fall asleep so I can find it again. I will hopefully be recording some updated videos of the shop within the next couple of months. In the meantime, I’ve been editing footage of a ton of other of my projects.

That is porosity it is because to much wind was blowing your inert gas a way from weld .. or your gas was not up high enough ether way when welding out side put up a small wall to block the wind on your welds

I plan on using 2 40' containers. I have a quanset hut building i think i can have a 32' span between containers.

Illinois. Quite a bit of wind but no hurricane type of weather. It’s built the same as a post frame building but a lot better.

Right idea wrong materials!! Steel trusses overhead would been a lot cheaper and a fraction of labor!! Not to mention a lot quicker build. Could have used a heck of alot less material. But none of my business, I just use what I know works for the cost and durability…

Assuming you owned the containers, and allowed nothing for that cost. Also assuming the trusses were a gift and also not included in the cost. Did you pour the concrete on the mud, or did you buy gravel for a base? The same old story, figures dont lie, but liars can figure.

I’ll go over the list of expenditures I had. Poured the concrete over sand, 2” foam board & plastic. Most of my purchases were marketplace finds. Gotta be resourceful if you’re working with limited funds.

I don't get the "why" of doing this. It won't cost any less than conventional materials and at the end of the day, you got a building made of shipping containers at the base. Which will have the floors rotting out at some point. At least it isn't a house...house construction with these are just a dumb idea.

I built it from March to May of 2020. Couldn’t get a lot of people interested in helping putting poles in the ground at that time due to the world going crazy. This way I was able to do everything as a 1-2 man crew.

I built a single container guest cabin in 2017. Outside looks stock besides window & door openings. Inside is nearly finished aside from ceiling texture. Condensation at door and window frames is a slight issue during the winter but a small dehumidifier helps tremendously. I may put a shed type roof with overhangs for patio area this spring, and eventually paint the exterior, but it’s kinda cool seeing people’s reaction when they walk inside!
