Building Loft In Class A RV - Our RV Renovation

Our kids loved the lofts in the class C RVs so we decided to take our class A RV and create a loft. We're probably one of the few videos that are out there showing how are building a loft in our class A RV. I found one other online and we chose to do it differently.
So if you're considering renovating your class A RV or any type of RV for that matter, take a look at how we built our loft over the driver seats. It's a great little bed in the cab and it gives us some sleeping options or ability to grow as our family grows.
Now I will say since it is a loft bed in the cab of a class A, there isn't a lot of headroom or space. It's a bed that's probably suited for a child or young teenager. Our kids love jumping up there when there's just one piece of foam.
Hopefully this is helpful for those building a loft in their Class A RV and we hope this helps with your RV renovation.
Feel free to reach out with any questions you might have as you do your RV reno.

Really smart ! I wonder how the new models do this with the up and down kinds ! Anyways ty so much ! What types of couches do you have ? That’s an awesome space to sleep it has to be a king or bigger ! Lol again Ty so much ! I’ve seen on the sprinter vans where they take cables and use to make a drop down bed that is what I’d love to do my kids are to big lol

very nicely done!! Can you please tell me how you mounted the stained wood around the top of the slide? Just curious if you used screws, do they show really bad? I'm trying to decide how to do that but preserving the natural look of wood without a bunch of screw holes!!! LOL

How did you find the supports in the walls and ceiling of the cab? Are the interior wall panels removable? I'm confident that I could do the rest of this if/when we buy a class A. Its just finding thise solid supports that seems to be trick..

Great job! We are trying to find a way to incorporate extra sleep space. This is a great idea. Did you install your 2 couches that you turn into a King? or are they original with your RV. We are looking for a couch exactly like that to replace the bench and table combo that turns into a bed.

We purchased two couches from Ikea that fold out to a bed as well as offer storage underneath. One couch remains in it's place on the slide side and the other couch moves a bit to touch the other couch when folded out. Together they make a really large king bed which has been perfect for us. Yeah it can be hard finding all the sleeping space you need. Hope that helps!

Beautifully done! Did you guys have any kind of building experience before you started renovating your RV? Even though I'm working on a bus and yours is an RV, I am very excited to have found your video! I feel like I can get a lot of inspiration and ideas from referencing your guys' work; thank you for sharing!! I have a school bus that I plan on turning into a livable space, in a perfect world I'd do a massive roof raise of 24" on the entire roof but I don't know how to weld and am not sure if I'll be able to find someone who can help w that. SO, I've been toying with the idea of building a loft above the driver's seat and/or above the back end area. I've only seen one other bus w/ a loft so I know it's doable, and I can use wood which I'm comfortable with, but I could foresee problems like what you guys had with sturdiness, making sure it's low enough to be comfortable, etc. Now, thanks to you, I have an idea where to start and what needs to be done first :)

Hey, we have a 2000 fleetwood bounder 36s that we just started renovations on. So far we have pulled up the flooring and started painting the cabinets. We really want to build a loft but we also really want to keep the cabinets up front. Do you think this would be possible? Your video was definitely helpful :)

At this point, it's hard for me to remember all the measurements but I think you could keep the cabinets in place. In our loft, there is extra space on the sides and probably in the front. I think your challenge would be opening the doors while having bedding up there. Keep me posted on what you end up doing. I'd love to see it!

What did the lift mechanism cost you and where did you get it from?
