This archive film tells the story of how a field was turned into a tractor making factory at Basildon in Essex. Ford then produced a range of brand new tractor models there and New Holland still assembles T6 and T7 tractors in this factory today!

My dad was born in 62 so this film is like 59 or 60 years old

Ford very best tractors
They don't make like that any more, the video and the tractor's that is! Interesting seeing how things have changed in health and safety in the construction industry over fifty years too!

Thats a scraper box, used to level a site by scraping off the soil and carting it to a heap
Sadly over the next 20 years everything turned to shit for English manufacturing

Yes that's very true. Many wonderful manufacturing plants came to an end. Even the Massey Ferguson factory.
