Have you ever thought about making a OV-10 Bronco? It's a twin turbine engine STOL aircraft used in Vietnam. Papa of the A-10 Worthog. These worked off airport a lot. Capable to land on dirt roads so they could fuel up and take on munitions. There was no need to return to the airport. Could get back in the fight quickly. Later on they've been used to fight fires. It was a plane that wore many hats and got not much recognition for it's service.

This is classic Flite Test, just you guys hanging out, building and flying a great foamboard build. Nothing too wild or goofy. Something about this video just puts a smile on my face. I know retracts are not really part of the FT philosophy but a set of retracts would really make the look of the Zero. Really, a lot of your warbirds would look great with retracts. Actually... if you guys came up with a standard FT foamboard retract system for these birds it would really take them to the next level... maybe a couple 3d printed parts if it needs them as a lot of us have printers or access to them these days. I print all my control horns and firewalls now instead of cutting them out of wood.

They probably can't model in the bulges for the later models, remember it's foam boards they are working with here. They can't have the super tiny details like on a molded RC airframe, also it's gonna be pretty boxy I'd imagine.

  • @414Mustang1

@@wolfpaw2715 The K models shaped the bulges differently, so they were less disruptive of the outer surfaces. They may have looked better than the G models, but they still weren't as clean as the F, especially when you consider the retractable tailwheel that only the F had.

I’d love to see a video of you modifying a plane to have retractable landing gear and other fun accessories like wingtip lights etc. Watching the build is my favorite part. I think the foam models are such a good entry point for new/young enthusiasts but also a great way to learn more advanced skills in building like landing gear etc - that is a little more difficult/expensive with balsa or plastics.

I would really love to see a De Havilland Mosquito. My late father flew a bunch of them in WW2 including the post-raid photo-reconnaissance over Dresden, where he was jumped by two Me109s. Fortunately he'd completed the required passes, so fire-walled the throttles and headed for the high blue yonder, out-climbing the Messerschmitts with ease. Just as well, because the only weapons he had were his and the navigator's Enfield No.2 .38" revolvers. Another British-made aircraft you might consider is the Blackburn B-101 Beverley. It was the first I jumped out of, over the Becon Beacons in Wales.

Love the FW-190 but a D version, with its longer nose might help with CG. Don't forget the F-8F Bear cat or a nice twin F-7F Tigercat. Love to see a ME 109 and/or FM 190. I think the FW 190 would be similar to the Zero build based on the cylinder shape of the fuse. At least the front half of the plane. I don't know about the ME 109. Its fuse is more angular. Both are awesome planes and so graceful in the air.
