Building Deep Sleep - The Deepest Accommodation on Earth

Deep Sleep took a great many people a long time and a lot of work to build. And yet, surprisingly little in the way of video footage exists, as very little was actually taken. Why? Because we were just too busy! When there is a lot of stuff to carry, one person holding a camera is never going to be popular.
Still, some footage survives and I've compiled it into this short and punchy video. Not all the footage is mine, some has kindly been sent to me by other members of the team.
Don't forget to check out Deep Sleep at www.go-below.co.uk

I had the opportunity to visit Deep Sleep this weekend as a detour on the Ultimate Xtreme trip as we had a small group and were pretty quick. Seeing this in person especially with the journey it took us to reach it really puts into perspective just how much effort went into transporting all the materials to build this underground retreat. Incredible job to all those involved!

Thanks Poc, a pleasure to hear from you! I try my best with the videos - main problem with this one was the such limited footage I had and a lot of that isn't at the best quality. It came out alright though. Take care of yourself mate

i still absolutly cant believe how they got all those tools and materials down there - insane! (even with the help of pulleys it must have taken ages)!

Yeah, it took a long time! Jury is out on whether the couple of cable-ways we installed for materials actually helped or not. On balance I think they probably did. A lot of stuff couldn't use them though, and just had to be hand-balled the whole way.

What used to be in the cavern before you put all the work into turning it into what it is now? What's the cavern called?
