Looking forward to using this system ,with my old DnD group 4of us from the class of 1982... and 6 of our kids ... with all your crafting projects that my kids and l have made over the years... Love the game. Warden seems underpowered, similar to a delver but lacking the extra insight. A beastmaster could get a wolf, which can do more than just track things (by scent). I would improve Warden's miraculous save.

Sounds terrific - fresh, ingenious, and packs so many possibilities into a tinyish set of rules. Hope this is netting you a heap of well-deserved back pay, Scotty, while pleasing a ton of people. Best regards from Over Here.

More questions! (Hopefully you won't get tired of answering, ha ha) Page 38 regarding Seers: " You also have precognition and can avoid any damaging attack on a 3+." Is this a single roll to completely avoid the attack, or one roll per strike, as with armour? Is this meant to allow the player to avoid one single attack in the battle, or can they use it with each attack directed toward them? If they fail this roll, do they still benefit from armour, or do they only have the one roll? Can players make scrolls/ potions/ other objects? I'm sure more questions will follow.

The skald reminds me of the tactician in Slayers, which is one of the coolest class mechanics I've ever seen, and it really empowers the players!

Ran a Starcraft RPG oneshot using EZD6. So intuitive, players loved it. All we did for character stats was give them a few boons.

I have 2 things that need clarification, please: 1) the Rascal ability Tricks can be used "once per turn" but I believe the meaning here is essentially once per what other games call a round (from the Rascal's action until their next action) because it's only useful to defend against an *enemy's* action, so it can't be on their own action... 2) the Skald ability Stands of Fate: can you give an example of when it's of greater benefit to reduce the RR's roll rather than increasing one's own? Thanks!

Yes, it should be once a round. If the RR rolls a 3 and hit a hero a Skald could spend one karma making it a 2 and the RR NPC now misses the attack.

Check out the old "Terrible Secret of Space." It has the pusher robot and shover robot. Classic.

Using this for some solo play and damn. This system is so much fun

@@theDMsCraft it's been great! You've done amazingly well at streamlining the rules and it makes solo play so much easier than a lot of systems I've tried.

Just finished our first game trying out these rules. Overall, we had an absolute blast. So easy to use and very versatile. The only issue we had was when some PvP kicked off in the party, and the combat got a little bogged down. Otherwise, it was a very enjoyable, easy to use, system.

This game system is exactly the kind of system i like! Clarification question, Seems there is a slight typo on the "Seer", "You also have precognition and can avoid any damaging attack on a 3+. If you make your save The a melee attacker injures itself for 1 strike." Is this save intended to replace the conjurers armor save and cause stirkes against attackers if you succeed, or is the typo concealing an intended caveat?

Going from Rascal to Conjurer highlighted a rules interaction that I am wondering about. Rascal you talked about Gank being 2 attacks & the Conjurer's barrier as able to take 1 strike, does that mean if a Rascal attacks a Conjurer with a barrier that 1 of the Gank dice still potentially hits & if so which 1? (It may never happen in a game, but I heard this, it got me wondering. Since it would be exceeding rare for a Pusher & Mover to be fighting another Pusher & Mover.)

So, regarding the different "abilities" of the Hero Paths, does a character get access to all of those traits when they select a Hero Path? Or is the player expected to choose one particular option from the list? For example, would a Friar be able to perform BOTH "Empathic Healing" and "Holy Light," or would they have to choose one for their character?

4:00 Question: A shield only counts to the warrior's armor save and "shield sacrifice" ability, but not to other classes armor, right? For example if I wanted to play a dwarven delver with a one-handed pickaxe and a shield then I would get no benefit for the equipped shield (towards armor)? I could think about the custom inclination "tortoise": You have a boon using a shield to defend yourself or instead of a 5+ save you have a 4+ using the shield. But that's just me coming up with stuff without ever playing the game.

That is correct and a good idea for an inclination.

The idea is that although anyone can pick up a shield you need good training to handle it effectively in combat.

I do have a question on the Rascal's Gank ability. If you have a boon in Melee or Ranged and use Gank on an enemy would you still only roll 2d6 total or 2d6 for each attack?

Another question, please - how do you handle fist-fights or unarmed combat in general regarding the damage. Does a hit inflict 1 Strike just like a sword or dagger?

I would say it inflicts KO strikes and can not crit.

And if your last strike is from KO damage, you are unconscious and not killed.

great videos! I'm loving the system and you are such a nice guy! I'm having trouble with the Shield Sacrifice. It says "can deflect all attack damage (...) for this round (...) can even be activated after the damage has been inflicted." From this I get that at the end of a round, the warrior may choose to sacrifice the shield to negate all damage made by attacks (to self or close ally). If the warrior got 1 strike and a couple of misses/saves and a brute ally got 4 strikes from 4 different attacks in that round, the warrior could choose to use "Shield Sacrfice" to get rid of the 4 strikes made to the brute, but some of those misses/saves on himself could now be hits (due to armor saves changing). How do you deal with something like that? or is more like it can use Shield Sacrifice after the roll of a damage and from that point on the brute is "protected" from further damage (including the triggering roll)? Sorry for the wordiness and thank you for taking the time to read all the comments!

So you can block damage to yourself or one close ally. You can decide at the end of the round after all damage has been inflicted. (I would allow this for melee damage and not magick or other types of strikes) so if you wait till the end of the round, you would still have the shield to defend before it broke. Hope that helps.

Hi love your game! Question about the Skald, it says in the description that "Party members can use karma against the rr when you are near" but you speak in the video as though it's only the Skald that can spend karma to manipulate the rolls. So can all party members spend karma or only the Skald?

When you roll with a boon, you roll an extra die and keep the highest die as your result. For example, if you roll with a boon and get a 1 and a 6. The highest die is the 6, so your result is 6

I have a question about the exploding dice, say on the second roll it's a 3 on the dice against a normal person or creature, does that count as a strike hit too?

No, you only use the highest die in the pool. Magick and Miracles are a bit different

@@theDMsCraft, I'm a little confused, I was under the impression that if the exploded dice landed a hit it would be a second strike against the foe, but instead it has to be a second 6 on the second dice for it to land a second hit. So I think I get it now, thank you for your answer! :)

​@@ravenshadowz2343 yep, to get a chance to crit you must roll a six, you roll one die, and if that one is a six you inflict another hit. keep rolling one die and inflicting 1 strike on a six rolled until you fail to get a six or run out of karma to boost the roll.

Need to take devout like any other hero. The Friar's powers are more like innate powers given by the gods.

Why can't a mystic bolt crit? Would it really break anything?

Conjurers are already kickass. It keeps them from stealing the thunder of ranged players.

So, only warriors can use a shield? If another character of a different path finds a shield, it offers no bonus?

Hey scotty @thedmscraft. Im reading the rules, i just bought the game. Im a little confused on the monster stats.. some of them say Magical Ability 3d6 and such.. like for your Mistyspawn. Im confused on what roll this represents? Like as a mistyspawn, does she have to roll a 3 on d6 to cast the love poem? Can you explain this part of the rules for enemies magical ability?

@@clautzenheiser Gotcha, Here you go...If heroes enter a Medusa den she rolls 3D6 for magical ability and rolls a 1, 3, and 5. You take the highest # rolled so the heroes have to equal or beat a 5 if they look at her or are petrified. Most heroes roll a magickal defense of 1D6 (Friars and brutes roll 2D6 and take the highest roll). Those who look away from her take a bane to fight her instead of having to roll magical defense/resistance. hope this helps.

Looking at your elementals enemies stat block, they too have a magical ability dice, but under their stats, i dont see a magical ability they can use.. which is confusing me. Can you help with that sir? Love the game by the way and amazing job!

@@clautzenheiser So glad you love the game. So say an Air elemental wanted to push pushing a hero with an air blast that would be magickal ability. (roll as shown with medusa). For Mistyspawn roll magickal ability. the highest roll of the three dice must be resisted by the hero or they willingly walk into the arms of the Mistyspawn and lose a strike from life drain.

As a human SEER I have a 3+ save because of precognition, so basically I don't have to wear any armor? Then I pick FAITHFUL, FIGHTER and SWIFT ATTACK so I`m even better at defense and great at offense and can heal?

Yes, you could do that. magick can still mess you up as well as miraculous saves. Healing is hard and I only allow magick to do one strike or heal and no crits. (The one strike thing is implied in the rules but not specifically mentioned) A miracle can only be called on once a scene. For the heal I would start at 3D6 up to six targets resistance which I would max out at 6d6. (so six targets is the max you could heal one strike) While you are trying to call on a miracle (once per scene and likely failing) you are not fighting. I rule that precog only works if the Hero is trying to avoid combat. It is not intended as an offensive ability where you wade into enemies with the intent to kill. So precog would shut down if the player goes in swinging with the intent to kill. Inflicting intentional violence removes the calm mind that the seer needs to precog....(I think you mean Devout=call miracles).

@@theDMsCraftMy bad, I mixed the CONJURER's SEER with FRIAR, so no healing and no miracles ;). I saw precog not as an offensive ability too, it is purely a defensive mechanism. Here is a combat example: A skeleton tries to hit me. Usually it needs a 3+ to hit me, but due to FAITHFUL it needs a 5+. Let's say it rolled a 5 and hits. With light armor I would have to roll a 6, but I rolled a 2 which would inflict 1 strike. But I have precog and rolling a 4 saves that damage completely. Did I understand that correctly or, as you wrote before, is more like an out-of-combat save?

Sure would!

Skald is a good take on the bard as an armored diviner instead of a magic goofball who for some reason is singing songs instead of helping in combat. bard is too silly and immersion-breaking in 5e. fair concept based on irl traveling troubadours, but bad execution on wotc's part. Skald executes the concept much better.
