I am not a welder, but have owned many boats. You do not want the guides to rub the boat. you want a gap between the boat and the guide. If you have the guide in contact all the time it will wear your clear coat or paint in short order. The stern of your boat is still floating when you hook up to your bow winch line and cinch it tight. the bunks just keep the boat roughly centered. As you pull the boat up the ramp the bottom of the boat will center itself. Once out of the water the guides should have a gap. Dave I really like the design of the guides. Thanks for a great video.

I was with ya until you said galvanized lath screws....salt water and cold galvanized screws don't mix very well. They will rust off within a years time. I wouldve used a stainless steel screw for attaching the carpet to the wood. But besides that you were spot on my man! Awesome stuff brother!

I've had to change the carpet almost annually any way, but you're right SS is more durable.

For aluminum, I use the standard carbide tip wood blade on the compund miter saw. When fabricating ferrous metals, I use a steel cutting saw and blade- differently designed blade with a lower RPM saw. Dave
