I'm kicking off my new project of building a crazy over-powered electric mini race quad! I've never build an EV before so this will be an adventure.
In this video, I'll give a brief overview, and then we'll take a look at the Apex 90 I'm using as the platform. The Apex and DRR are the perfect base because they are full race quads and after the engine is removed there's lots of space for the motor and battery. Stripped down I estimate it to weigh around 180-190 pounds.
I found the roller in a Facebook group for $175 and had it shipped from MN. DRR's are easier to find and this setup would work exactly the same in that ATV.
I'll be working with a company based in Oakland, CA called Electro and Company for all the components and a custom battery. The owner is super knowledgeable and I'm confident he will guide me through the process.
