Building an open source design system for the many - Ahcène Amrouz, Antoine Puig (Schema 2022)

Ғылым және технология

As a central government organization we had the opportunity to build a Design System for the entire french public sphere. The scale and the nature of our DS forced us to be more open and welcoming of more than 600 designers and developers. In this talks we will display what tools and mechanisms we used for what results and what we learned from this experience.
Schema by Figma is a conference focused on design systems. For more info, check out designsystems.com/sections/schema

I'm really curious to know how they use their community file with the Swap Library feature for external folks/outside the org. How does that work??

8:50 Awesome talk, thanks! Q: Does this really work for all hues in the HSL color model, because of the cylindrical color space and huge differences between e.g. blue and yellow? Or would OKLCH only really work this way?

As far as I know (and I'm a long way from being a color expert), it should (at least technically). Because contrast checking for a11y is build on luminance/lightness only, and that's the parameter we've used to break down our colors. What might go wrong, though, is perceived lightness, for which indeed OKLCH or HSLuv (that we used actually, but did not mention here for clarity's sake) can help.
