    Device in beginning is called 'Mortar and Pestle'. Nice and simple scape, I think it's time to rescape one of my tanks.

    co2 injection for caridina tank reminds me of my experience 2 years ago, my PRL breeds fine, the plants grow beautifully, and when my co2 tank was empty and I decided to stop injecting co2 because the plant already looking good, and then after 2 weeks of stop injecting co2, 50% or more of my caridina died gradually and because it is heavily planted, I didn't notice any dead shrimp and when I noticed it, it's already too late 😅 Lesson learned, co2 injection is okay, but keep it consistent so the water parameters do not swing

    Hey Steven, yes I also had a great result with my PRLs with CO2 injection. I think it's works great for caridina because it lowers the PH of the water. I might try to inject it to my new breeding tank as experiment to see if it helps

Thanks for posting and sharing your knowledge about plants and shrimp. I'm still fairly new to shrimp and your content has been very helpful for me. You mentioned not knowing the difference between the Cardinals and neon tetra I think while you were at the fish store. The Cardinals have the red stripe the full length of the body, neon do not. Cardinal also get a bit bigger than the neon. There are more differences but these are the basic ones that will be visible at least.

    Maybe use some sponge around the input of the eheim filter so the shrimp don't get sucked up. Your shrimp are beautiful.

    Great video! Question please, what KH are you running on this tank? Im setting up my own co2 planted caridina shrimp and ive read to not have zero KH if using CO2 due to ph swings. My dilemma is i don't want too much kh as i really want shrimplets too. Nice content, from a fellow uk shrimp hobbyist.

    A random extreme beginner question. I didn’t see a heater in your amazing tank build. I’m conscious that we don’t have a heater in our small tank(temperate). We have a few minnows and shrimps (my favourites) and they amaze me. I could sit and watch them for hours. Do I need a heater to add different kinds of shrimp. We have amano shrimp at the minute which seem to be thriving (but not breeding yet) Great ideas by the way.

    There is co2 generator where the citric acid drop is controlled and the device isn’t expensive, Ziss ZC-11 Co2. I haven’t used it but was thinking of getting one. I did see a review on YT somewhere, might be worth trying.

    Hi @shrimpmania, thank you for the amazing content and i must say the tank, fish and shrimps look gorgeous! I have a question though, you mentioned you're running CO2 24/7. Isn't it dangerous for fish the shrimp at night as the plants are also releasing CO2 at night? How do you balance that? I'm afraid mine would die of excess CO2 if I leave it on 24/7.

  • @ShrimpMania

    @ShrimpMania

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you for kind words. I heard about this issue but with small amount of CO2 (less than 1 dps) and with good surface agitation that shouldn't be a problem. My shrimp and fish all doing fine in that tank.

    Does running c02 24/7 cause any issues? I’ve heard it can make algae grow crazy

  • @ShrimpMania

    @ShrimpMania

    Ай бұрын

    At night when the light is off it doesn't matter for plants or algae if you run co2 or not they can't grow in the dark. the only reason why people switch CO2 off at night is that it's not good for life stock - plants release oxygen and consume co2 in the daytime, At night they sleep so there will be a lot of unused co2 and not much oxygen. It''s not good for life stock. If youyou put an air pump with airstone connected to a timer and run it at night that will solve this problem.

    @@ShrimpMania that’s what it was. I’m fairly new to the hobby but a couple months in. I’ve been having mine on co2 on a timer. But I haven’t really been getting any ph fluctuations people are talking about. I measure during the day and at night and at about 6.1regardless. Could this be because it’s a bigger set up in a 75gallon.

    I have used 3 chinese zrdr co2 kits and 2 of them have had problems with slower and slower release which then turned into over delivery during my absence risking killing all the fish, valves chemically corroded over time until massive release. I absolutely do not recommend it, my kits were all aluminum. Is a very dangerous way in my opinion.

  • @ShrimpMania

    I know what you mean, it happens to me too. The trick is you need to wiggle the tweezers when you pull them out it helps the soil to fill that space and hold the plant

    @Gone Shrimp'n I've had this problem before but I was watching ADAview & the simple tip from Daichi Araki is to always keep the tweezers angled and the best success of the carpet and shorter root plants is 1" minimum for the stems 3" - 4" minimum and more soil = always is easier to get everything in the 1st time 🤺
