I want to know how will you do odometry with vesc and bldc motor with feedback sensor, does vesc allow you to communicate position and speed data with ROS ?

Hi, I see there is no differential on the car. Do you know if I were to build a car with a differential and suspension, how do I add encoder for each wheel?

  • @Brain_Robotics

There are two differentials in this car. I used to have an encoder on a previous version of the car as you can see on the minute 3:51. Basically, instead of adding an encoder for each wheel, you can use one in the driveshaft (to get the speed) and estimate the turn angle by the commands sent to the servo. In the third video, I will explain exactly that. Feel free to reach me out.

Great construction and everything, but not autonomous if it's radio controlled.

The Nvidia Jetson family is a good overall option for AI and ROS. The RPI comes with options with higher RAM memory that can stand out with ML models.
