Building airport runways UNDER the highway in Cities Skylines!
Ойындар
Engitopia returns, and this time we build over our airport in City Skylines- putting our runway under highway flyovers to save lots of a space (but mainly just because we can...). I also drain an entire lake in Cities Skylines to create an Atlantis style city under water, before a disaster with the poopcano...

Surprised you didn't attempt to build the airport under architect village, 'underwater'! Noise pollution, 'other' pollution, those architects gotta love ya.

As a Dutch person I can confirm that we all live behind a giant dam and a shit load of pumps.
Building a city that's below sea level right next to a dam (levy) that's holding a catastrophic amount of water back...you just created New Orleans.

It's only gone horribly wrong that one time. And that other one time.
As an aviation expert, I can confirm that a runway under a highway is completely safe. Pilots will definitely not rotate at the right time and strike the highway.

Absolutely love the unintended disasters each episode. Keep up the great work Matt

You should connect the bridges to one another, so that anyone trying to get across has to go over ALL the bridges.
Is the poolution overflow a result of pumping the contents of a lake into the main water system....?
as a current architecture student i get mixed feelings watching this channel lol

16:04 I present to you, the best moment in RCE history, that splutter killed me
I love how doing the water "as realistically as possible" has gone from the initial thesis statement of the series to an actually funny gag as the series has progressed.

You can place a emergency pumping service (I can't remember the actual name) that will send out trucks to pump water from the flooded areas
The strongest road layout reveal was class. I knew what was coming but it was still funny.
As a RCE-video-watching veteran, I already knew what was going on when RCE built the first curve road XD
On the topic of airports, I'd love to see Real Civil Engineer try Airport Madness 3D
I love how overly complicated he makes things. Really showcases how you really can play however you want
Everyone on the plane be like what the hail Flight attendant : everybody be calm he is an engineer Everyone: calm There is a architect on the bridge: Panik
can confirm it’s that good, moved there 3 weeks ago 👍
You can turn off snapping when building roads. There's alot of options. Turn off angle, road length and nodes. This will let you freestyle your roads and it won't snap to any of those things. If you click on pollution option you can see what pipes are polluted.
I love the casual deletion of a pipe seconds before it all goes to 💩 Love the content! Thank you for the daily videos!
I would love to know what the devs think about the Brown Energy industry in Engitopia.
A huge highway over an airplane runway is what I imagine the future looks like.
I love how the start of this series Matt was making money, and now he's gone mental he has unlimited money enabled 😆
love how casual he talks while doing this and finishes one thing then zooms back and you realize what he really created...
I feel like his whole experience in this game is built around the core concept that the more people you have the more poop floods there are.
you should have left those pipes in place, me thinks it is possible they were still connected vertically to the poo island, and the moment you took them out the system lost a vital part

the same thing happened to my house when my father severed the earth connection, power was passing through it somehow, now all incandescent lamps keep burning out, and the microwave is "funny", when I turn off one of the phases (microwave isn't 220v thou, that means some neutral isn't really a neutral, but it still works, I put a new beefier capacitor, it won't blow up anymore, its a super-cap ), dammit, my stock of lamps is running out and they don't make those anymore. also, who knows were the fucking ground loop is on this 40yo installation. and my aircon unit also blew up some fuses and I also put a super-cap on it. I put caps on everything ! my computer didn't literally burn out because I have a true inverting UPS that I retrofitted with motorcycle batteries and a big cooler and more newer caps. that ground wire was vital to the network, it was a load bearing grounding wire and don't ask about GFCI, here we don't have those, that's why they call me Raiden.

I think at 15:20 you can briefly see that part flooded before he started touching the pipes
4:17 -cruise ships- _floater coasters,_ Matt. It's not a bug, it's a feature.
That’s why Architects build the best airports
As a person from the Netherlands, I can confirm the dam part is exactly what our country looks like 👍🏽
3:08 "Is that silly?", RCE I don't think anyone of us would be here watching if it wasn't. the question isn't if it's silly, but if its silly enough
😂 amazing vid I’m not in the happy mood today and this cheered me up AKA made my day 🙂🫡
I do believe that because you connected all of the mega pumps to the grid that eventually makes it's way to the poo-cano, it has overflowed the top and caused an eruption, if you will.
Please never stop this series, it‘s my absolute favourite!!
I think your attempt to create a perpetual motion machine using make-believe video-game physics is a truly admirable and genuinely constructive way to spend one's time!
A cable car tour of the airport would be lovely
The unlimited power plan is definitely silly. But that's also why we're here. Never change.
I honestly think there should be an entire video from the perspective of a person visiting the whole city
Just looking at the thumbnail makes you realize that an engineer did this. The pollution, noise and a un bearing amount of pain to the architects, long live the Real Civil Engineer! Also a game I suggest is a game called "Theotown" it's a fun game and it can help you express your engineering skills.
yes, i can affirm that this is exactly how we do it in The Netherlands!
Road Maintenance Warrior - “here’s how the game is slightly inaccurate” Cities: Skylines - “here’s the perpetual motion dam on poo river slide”
As for "how to get rid of the water" I'd just try to make the river a bit wider, ideally buy some more tiles if possible. Also make the edges of the river a bit higher or maybe use quays. As long as it doesn't keep flowing into the land from the river it should dry up from its own in some time.
I don't know why, but that creak at 10:12 had me laughing my ass off!
Going under the highway doesn’t even seem weird to me but that’s maybe because I was born in the Chicago area and used to regularly see O’hare airport which has planes travel over a highway via a bridge. This is actually probably safer in a lot of regards since if the plane were to go off by accident it wouldn’t land on a busy road way full of cars. Though I imagine the winds would make landing an absolute nightmare so maybe not.
0:51 The great fire of '99 Engineer Matt with a zipo lighter 😂
Raise the elevation of the land behind your dams around the intake so you don’t get the ripples. I played for hours until I came upon on that solution and it didn’t matter what size dam I made as long as I made that modification to the topography it would work. Without all of the waves.
13:40 very interesting shape for a city... A bit "hard" but it can work ;)
The new runway reminded me of detroit metro airport. While the runway doesnt go under any roads, one of the taxi lanes goes over the highway
As someone from the Netherlands. You are very right about 12:34
Everything after minute 9:00 humor is amazing, I love that humor you do, don’t loose that touch lol
I like how you're being anatomically correct with the placement of said items within this rock-hard, steel-pillar, of a city...Always good to see.
the mote that goes to architect hill should be called the poonama canal
All this madness on the map plus the background music is giving me strong Tropico vibes. You should take a look at it Matt. Cheers
What an ending. The utter shock and surprise at what happened was so real. Left us on a cliffhanger though😂
The road design at 13:39 looks like the strongest shape. Well done!
I'm sort of relieved Matt wasn't in charge during the worst of Covid since he just destroys buildings with sick people.
I mean, IRL having a road be *above* a runway would be hideously dangerous - architectural, one might say - but at Ft. Lauderdale Intl (FLL) there is a road *under* the major runway, so some version of this is possible
This place is so crazy you'd think an architect designed it. Wait, does that mean Matt is an undercover architect? Omg, that explains so much, Matt is an architect in disguise! Realcivilengineers, architects in disguise.
This city is just pure, beautiful and creative chaos and I'm loving every second of it
12:36 it would be cool to call that part of the city the netherlands XD
Son and grandson of civil engineers here: your continued hate of archetects brings warmth to my concrete-encased heart.
"How do you like living in this new neighborhood?" "It's kinda veiny." "Better than the old one in Brownsville."

Omgosh! You created back to the future part 2 when biff gets his sports almanac 😂
Love the efficiency of this city
Loving your videos. Have you heard of the "Electric Roads" mod? It saves you having to run pylons to remote sections. Wherever your roads are joined, so is your power. It's one of the only mods that I have permanently switched on.
Paddy came in the mail a little while ago and she’s great btw also it would make my day if you see this 😊
Everything in this city is a disaster waiting to happen lol
under the emergency services (pretty sure in the fire dept tab) there is a pumping service that goes around your city and pumps floodwaters back into the sewage network
I love that you've made me hip to the engineer architect dichotomy, very funny stuff (: can't have anything nice each of course
Matt I encourage you to read the strong towns book particularly the part about "stroads." A stroad is a road that is trying to be a street and thus fails at both. Streets are end destinations roads are highspeed transit between destinations.
hey, i suggest building another poocano, so that you not only can store more poo, you can also trap more architects, generate more power and more tourism
love your videos man! waiting for the next episode
Poo Volcano 2.0 since more power is needed
6:09 you can see the river already flooding off into the distance and the water being super brown down after the poop volcano lol
You should install the "Extra Landscaping Mod", then you can add/remove watersources
I think the flooding might have been a side effect of all the pumps you put in. If you compare the area (the area which would be flooded) at 1:03 to 1:55, you may notice a large increase in the number of sick people, flooded, and abandon buildings in the background. The only change during that time is the pumps. I am theorizing that due to the sudden change in the water, the water physics engine might have had a butterfly effect. I am not a dev. I am just guessing based on the wacky water engine effect we've seen through out your videos. Edit: Just looked at the map in the other video and see that the area is Lewis Shaw Mountain and the Last Place You'll Ever Visit.
Love when a random video pops and the content is amazing. Subbed 😄
Matt is slowly becoming a British Let's Game It Out
Hate when that happens, you get called out to chopdown a fallen tree blocking a road and accedentally destroy miles of road instead xD
did you know you can change the style of some of the buildings? you should make an European style building area in Engitopia!
Needs more knobs
My man here needs to try the 81 tiles mod
@9:08 we see the great James Murray on his way to his Impractical Jokers punishment. 😱😱
do some terraforming of your river so the outlet is wider than the inlet. This way the water will want to flow downstream and will resist back-flooding
I absolutely lost it when Matt with a lighter showed up :D
7:50 "that is FIXED." xD
Honestly, that was the work of the architects. I’m obviously sure that the pilots were engineers.
Tries to delete tree, Deletes the road instead, ARCHITECT MOVE 11:59
Matts City is becoming letsgameitouts Satisfactory Factory
You've literally turned into Josh from let's game it out...lmao!!! The chaos is real!! 😂😂😂
now that is some serious poollution
I love how you do a video a day
I believe you should change the "Poo canal" name for the much more funny "Canal of Poonama". Anyway great videos, love all of them
Need to figure out a way to run some ferry tours through the airport so you can get all modes of transportation in one area. Ya know... for the future
5:55 deceased processed, lol, that a way of putting it
Wouldn’t the complicated highway hurt engineers Brain to since they want it to be as cheep and possible while still working.
