Building Airfix FW190 - Model Aircraft

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Timelapse building of the Airfix Focke Wulf Fw190A-8, the most powerful, most heavily armed and armoured version of the fighter plane used by the Luftwaffe during the final years of World War Two.
I'd recommend this kit to more advanced modellers.

    Wouldn't the thinner remove the previous coats of paint?

  • @quickkits

    @quickkits

    7 жыл бұрын

    That's very true. You would have to use Humbrol acrylic 247, or seal the 247 colour with an acrylic varnish to make sure the thinner doesn't cause any damage (which I don't think I did, oops...)

    actually the paint would "die" if you left it dry for about 4-6 hours (with enamel, and 1 hour for acrylic), once it dies, thinner can do no damage to it whatsoever

    It takes some time and practice but with enough time and patience you can make it look airbrush. I had to move a lot for college and didn't drag all my equipment along so I relied on hand brushing for quite a bit and you can come up with some amazing results. Keep at it, you'll get there.

    Owen, am a great fan and have used your pencil technique to bring out the panel lines on a fw190 to great effect. Having trouble however with pva glue on canopies as they usually fall off....any tips would be appreciated....thanks.

    +Richard Cooper I'm glad the pencil technique is working for you! As for the canopies, I can only suggest that you use a bit more PVA glue, or look into getting some that is specifically for clear plastic parts, eg Humbrol Clearfix. I'm sure that Tamiya will do one also

    Hey Owen. First of all a very nice job. But I have a question. I started using enamel paints and the first time I used it, it ectualy didn't come out very well. I've already seen your paint tutorial but the thing is that I don't actually know what to paint acrylic and what to do enamel.

    +TheSeryogian I should have shown that in the video! I basically cut a long right-angled triangle out of masking tape and wrapped it around

    I kinda wish I was good enough to do model work :/ I hope I can do modelling tanks/planes as a hobby in the future. I would personally paint my planes black with yellow details.
