Building a Yoda's Hut! The best survival and warm amazing shelter (part #1)

Ойын-сауық

One of my childhood memories was the Star Wars movie, I loved the place and its little shelter in this imaginary cave!
Today I will try to make a small identical shelter, very happy to share with you my passion for survival
If you want to survive in the woods you really have to find the means to be able to make shelters according to the places and it is adapted with the environment!
Here is my new shelter, in this place I use a lot of small branches to build but also clay for insulation and protection from the rain.
In this episode you will find the main features to know how to build a shelter of this type.
As you can see I only use natural materials!
This shelter is designed to withstand at least 6 months! I invite you to subscribe to discover the rest of my adventures. Afterwards I will make the fireplace inside and a dining table and bed. This shelter will be adapted to spend olus of time warm in all conditions.
Thank you all very much for your comments and support!

I was lucky enough to grow up in a time where kids actually just ran around playing in the woods, building treehouses and exploring, and parents only cared that you came home by supper time.

I’m a 72 YO 👵🏼 and really loved this video. Back when I was young, my grandparents lived near the river with very high walls of clay deposits. People with families would live there. They would dig into the clay and make shelter to live until the snow came. Thanks for a great lesson on survival! 😉

Kids don’t go out anymore and do this sort of thing which is a reflection of so called development. This shelter if maintained could las longer than 6 months I reckon, it would make a splendid retreat for kids and those of us kids that never grew out of these kind of adventures, when I retire in 4 years I will have a go at making one of these especially the wattle and daub plastering. It won’t be as good as this but I will have a hoot having a go 😁

Kids still go out you know. Also its the parents most of thr time that are at fault. Keeping their kids inside by giving them ipads and computers whenever they are annoying then instead of dealing with them or sending them out. And people are too protective of younger kids nowadays. Some things like stay away from roads and take an adult or older person with you is ok but people just dont seem to want kids near any kind of dirt or cuts and bruises.

In Soviet childhood, we built huts wherever we could and out of anything. Within a month we could build up to 15 huts in different places. There were also secret places, and we hunted other guys in order to find out where their huts were and captured them. Bright childhood memories. :) Hello from Russia!!!

My daughter's daycare center built some of these on their property, different design, but same process. Basically three sided play huts with wooden roof, approved by the city. All the kids also made mud bird nests, we also used a wooden roof on these. Wooden sticks weaved with ivy, then mud/straw clay.

The only part I was unclear about was the conical topper. Maybe to redirect the force of rain against the most vulnerable part of the dome? I would think we'd want to shape the flue so that rain doesn't get funneled inside. Would be easy enough to make the top part of the cylinder extend further outward than the bottom part. The window was a nice idea. Would create coverings for window and door of possible, for when wind and cold is worse than usual. If you use the Eskimo igloo design you have the interior floor higher inside so that cold air can be inlet to feed an interior fire without you having to freeze. Would also think about drainage around the hut, making the whole thing just a little bit higher than the ground around it And piling a thick layer of dirt and mud around the bottom part could aid in insulation

This is excellent sir! My cousin and I built a few of these when we were kids. Not at this level of course but it brought back fond memories of being on the creek. It amazes me that many people now would perish in the woods when food water and shelter are right in front of them. Sad really how far we've came from our ancestors. It's good to embrace technology but bad to become dependant on it. Y'all stay safe and God bless

I used to do a lot of soil cement road base designs. And mix in place or pug mill. For state high ways parking lots etc.Using either orange clays sandy to loamy and shell mixes.Usually with about 6%-8% cement max.(4% the lowest and still met psi requirements). Orange loamy sandy clays with a good gradient of silica sands the best. Thinking it wood be great for adobe homes too properly engineered. Thanks Good Job Man!
