Building A Wilderness Bush Camp START TO FINISH Low Cost Getaway. A Backwoods Living Vlog

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this episode, I take you along on the journey as I build my wilderness bush camp. The cost analysis of this project reveals that my out of pocket expense was less than sixty dollars. I bought the Kodiak Canvas tent with reward earnings from using my credit card to pay my monthly bills. The teepee was made with spruce poles and an old tarp and the lean-to was made from firewood and a tarp I purchased. The fire pit was made with sand and stones found on location and the cooking rings were from a barrel and an old fuel tank I found in the woods.

You sum up the best part at the 18:16 mark. NOTHING more enjoyable than being out in the woods, up before twilight and getting a pot of coffee going. My mind is always so still and peaceful. The connection to the oneness of "all that is" comes so naturally and effortlessly. The gratitude too.....Quiet meditation without having to get in the lotus position and chant 'ohm' over and over. No better way to start a day, imho. Thanks, Boss.....great video. Just great!

Hey, Jim, two things. In the early part of the film you drove up in the ranger and I automatically looked for Frankie in the front seat. I hope you get to bring the old boy out there. The other is when my brother and I were kids we built a small lean-to on the edge of a swamp nearby just to hang out at - greatest feeling in the world with a small fire in winter, some birch bark and balsam twigs to get going. You'd think your fingers would snap like those twigs it was so danged cold but we loved it.

JC you brought back memories of my friends and I backpacking into the woods , and settings up tents in the middle of nowhere . One nite at 2am you could hear coyotes howling very close to our camp. Showing your face in the tent with light shining on it, listening to what was outside , brings out your primeval feelings of the unknown. Makes you feel alive. A great video, it had some Halloween moments. Thanks.

What a sweet spot BossMan. Thanks for sharing the process. The bears at the end are the icing on the cake. They were just passing through. I must confess, that it was good to learn that even you, at times, are wigged out by the sounds of the night. The sounds are magnified and our imaginations can take off. I am starting the get the urge to backpack again. Going solo to face those fears. We stretch ourselves when we get out of our comfort zones. It really is worth it. I need to get in shape for those adventures, but at least hiking is on the agenda in the days ahead. All the best to you and Lori and the pups. God bless.

Mornin Boss, Lori, Frankie ,Tildy and Lady Layers ☕👋🏻. Thanks for another awesome video Boss 👍🏻👍🏻. I've been living in a tent for about 10 years now. Love it. I make due with what I have. Separated in 2013, Divorced in 2016 and wanted to be close to nature. Lived in a nudist resort for 9 years ( was awesome). Now taking it one day at a time floating around here and there. Thankful for family and friends who let me set up camp in their yards. God has put me where I'm needed all my life and going to continue with my faith in God's plan. I don't consider myself homeless, I think I am free from the stress of owning a house. Been there, done that. I was told by a friend that the Nomad life seemed to make me happy and smiling more than they have seen in years😊. Love your bush camp👍🏻👍🏻. Looking forward to seeing more videos. Stay safe. God Bless y'all and the homestead 🙏🏻✌🏻❤😊

Oh my gosh, Boss! When you were talking about hearing the noise and The Twig snap the first thing I thought about was a moose. And then I thought well you've talked about a bear that had been around the house before and I thought maybe it was a bear and then I thought well it could have just been a deer. When you showed the shot of that mother bear and her Cubs I almost fell out of my chair! I am so glad you did not have any fresh food so to say that the bear might have smelled! I'm sure you know better than I a mother and her Cubs?!... I wish that I had my own land out in the woods as do I'm sure thousands of your viewers do if they don't already. Just recently I was camping in the Talladega National Forest in the Choccolocco Wildlife Management Area. I have a van that I converted into a tiny cabin on wheels. I have all of the conveniences but love cooking outside having my bathroom outside taking a shower outside Etc. It was the most peaceful and wonderful time. To not go anywhere to not have to run any errands to not have to see any people or hear any people or talk to any people. Like you to listen to the sounds of the Woods of the creatures walking through the leaves and cracking sticks with their Hooves or feet. To see the deer running across the Forest Road. To listen to the hoot owls at night and the birds chirping! I should have turned my phone off but being a female alone and 63 years old and having some disabilities I thought it was probably not a good idea. However when I did receive some phone calls I quickly hit the dismiss button look to see who it was and if it was a good friend I text them back and said I'm in the woods I'm unable to respond at this time but I am fine! It was no lie it was some of the finest moments of my life- the peace and the tranquility and calmness or something that was much needed. I was hoping to try and stretch my stay to two weeks and tried to make sure that I had enough supplies from me and my two dogs. Sadly I have been watching the weather and there was a kind of ugly storm coming our Direction and I've seen people get stuck in the very place that I was and then have the tow truck get stuck trying to get them out! Since I'm not in a four-wheel drive and it's a old conversion van and I'm pulling a cargo trailer with my solar panels on it, I decided it prudent to get the heck out of Dodge and head on home. However I will be departing again soon and deploying a SUV tent that looks much like the tent you pitched but it just attaches to the back of my old Suzuki Sidekick and head back to the woods hopefully in Tennessee. Thanks so much for sharing boss I think you and Lori and the pups would have been one of very few people or two of very few people that I would have enjoyed sharing the experience with because you both appreciate it so much. As you would say best to you and Lori and the pups and God bless you!

Great video!! Love the fireside chat. As a fellow backwoodsman, I have been told the same thing all my life. That I should get up every day at 4AM and run off to the big city to keep chasing that “Golden ring”. I couldn’t be happier with my simple backwoods lifestyle. A lot of people I run into just don’t get it, but I guess that’s their lose. Ha Ha. Thanks for all the great videos. Keep living the dream.

You hit home with me when you talked about your childhood. I feel the same way. If you want happiness you have to do things you like to do as a kid. I always felt that. As a kid I played in the woods building forts and I still enjoy it. Unlike you I can’t seem to get to the point where that’s all I have to do.

  • @thebossoftheswamp

I'm struggling with that point as well. To do things like this, I have to make time to do it and that means taking time away from other things. This is a constant struggle and why we are making radical changes in our plans. Updates to follow.

I should say that I want to live in the woods..........but I am afraid of bears! I know they will go away from you, but I am glad you didn't go out of your tent because it was a mamma and her cubs. I have the greatest respect for someone who understands where they live in the grand picture. Who understands and appreciates the fact ultimately, it is a circle of life. Not this pyrimid shaped belief where we are at the top, and have "domain" over all living creatures. We don't. We're part of the greater whole. Cheers Boss!
