Can, and do, OSHA take action based on KZread videos? The guys met Paul from FabRats last year, and he had a situation where he was charged with moving a boat that might have some sort of mussel on its hull. That was not safety related, and the official who made the infringement was a jumped up jerk, but it was based on Paul’s KZread footage. Either way, I am just glad that no one fell. I fell a similar height onto dirt 15 odd years ago, and broke my back and three ribs, and that has been life changing for me. I can still walk, but I have chronic pain.

With all the rain / snow coming off the back of that roof , you may want to put in an asphalt or concrete drainage ditch leading into the woods . Too much ground water will seep between the wall and floor making a mess in your " Premium " new shop . Plus the erosion will damage the yard and driveway . Just a suggestion from a long time subscriber who is in the trades . Looking forward to the next video , keep up the good work !!

@@906MediaProductions First of all, Michigan Represent! right on Lake Michigan in the lower peninsula myself. Second, In floor heat is awesome for vehicle garages, and tube heaters are a great addition. @906MediaProductions
Жыл бұрын
@@kalathos0042 propane for now, but looking into a clean waste oil burner to offset it. Wood is nice for the cost if you have the land, but it's awful when you need to constantly feed it, someone always has to be around to feed the boiler. Wood with a gas backup is great though, any wood you burn just offsets the gas used.
@kalathos0042

@@906MediaProductions 100% get that, growing up my parents heated with wood. they had a propane furnace but would never really use it unless we were gone for some reason and couldn't keep feeding the wood stove. and yes, it is cheap to feed but there is a lot of labor involved. i remember spending most of the summers just cutting, splitting and stacking wood for the winters.

As the old man that still. Does 💯 of the bad naughty not safe methods every single day, I will say the following: don't use hydraulics as scaffolding UNTIL you have seen a bucket drop to the ground from a random hose failure. Don't climb on upright single beams UNTIL you've seen them fall over like pixie sticks and smash everything. Steel toed leather work boots everyday all the time. But of course you should experience welding splatter burns on the top of your sneaker feet or hot cutoff torch parts melting through the bottom of your Crocs. Totally worth it. Safety glasses fog up, but so does your vision when the metal shavings get in there. It's fine.

These videos are so wholesome to watch. But I have to say, the camera work and editing (including music) on these are just above and beyond. It wouldn’t be the same thing without it. You guys make a great team really complementing each other to create truly epic content! I love it ❤

You guys really need to make a playlist out of this garage build. I was looking for one so I could watch it from start to finish. Loving your videos 🤩👍🏼

What a fantastic shop! I'm now 100% on board with the idea of a shed roof for my own dream shop, to be facing South, and entirely covered with PV panels...
The one pan head is to secure the first purlin to the plate. Then the overlapping purling on top of that with regular type bolts. At least on the roof. I've help build a lot of Mueller buildings which are basically the same and that's how the prints were. We made the same mistake you were griping about arounf 25 minutes.
I build wood pole barns for a living and watching this one go up was pretty cool! You nailed all the terminology! I was surprised you never broke out a level on your structural beams. Definitely shows hard work pays off guys.. great job!

As the sun heats a steel beam it will expand in length but also the side of the beam in the sun will expand more than the side in the shade and will arc a little too. @@906MediaProductions First of all, Michigan Represent! right on Lake Michigan in the lower peninsula myself. Second, In floor heat is awesome for vehicle garages, and tube heaters are a great addition. Is it a propane/Natural Gas boiler or wood fired heater? with how much wood Ethan cuts it wouldn't surprise me if they go with a wood fired boiler for there new shop.
@906MediaProductions

It's fine.
I got 99 problems but safety aint one. Renting a lift or two was apparently too hard. Day one of erection could have been the last day with erection. Any fall from the heights and all the rest of the episodes will be building wheelchairs or tombstones. Play stupid games, win stupid prices.

The filming and editing is top notch. It's good to see y'all building the shop yourselves, as it saves money and means more when you do it yourself. As far as the flat head bolt thing, it's an OSHA requirement for why it has to be like that. Basically so that the girt/purlin is attached to something while lining up the other member and can't slide off.
