Your little chainsaw reminds me of my little chainsaw! I make a bad habit of taking on big jobs using smallish tools. I once undertook an earthmoving project with my little skidloader. A friend accused me of trying to "eat an elephant with a fork." 😄

Good morning Nick, I used a wood carvers grinding disc to put the round in my wood stump. It really went fast and did a perfect job on the half round in the wood. It has a chain saw blade edge for the carving. Thanks for a great video, you care and good luck.

Nick how about a steel stump? From a oxygen tank?

I'm sure that bottom cavity would work too Gene. With that being said - i'm going to be the killjoy and put this out there. IF one decides to cut the oxygen tank - and I'm NOT suggesting they do, BIGGEST thing is to make sure it's a CONFIRMED empty oxygen tank - remove the valve and purge the tank with an inert gas/fill with water. IF one decides to cut with an abrasive wheel, torch, plasma, bandsaw they can all create heat/sparks - oxygen alone isn't flammable, however it supports combustion and if it comes in contact with any material that will burn it will be highly accelerated by oxygen... oil, grease, body filler dust, etc... KABOOM! And for others reading this comment heaven help the person who gets the idea or simply doesn't know the difference and cuts into an acetylene tank. You don't want to be on one of those many facebook top 10 'geniuses' clip shows. BEST THING I can suggest, find a tree stump(check out local classified ads for fire wood being sold as they might have a stump or point you in the direction of someone who has).

I recently picked up a used English wheel...it looks like a puppy compared to yours in your videos lol. I was curious is there a type of wood that is better than others? I'm in British Columbia so I have a few different types to choose from. Is there a particular wood to stay away from? great video! as I planned to make one with no knowledge so this is great!! thanks Josh

Great question Josh. This stump was created using Elm... a wood that most wouldn't touch with a 10ft pole. Thing is, the price was right and I got several sections in the event the one I'm using starts to split. So far, the stump is holding up. It's been over a year and seen A LOT of hammering. Had an oak stump as well as poplar- both banded. The oak thump split within 6 months and the poplar.. well it lasted a job till pieces started breaking away. What I'm trying to say is don't over think it and use what you can get your hands on easily. Thanks for your support. Please share the channel to help us grow.
