Building a Pipeline: PPHS Origins Story | A Documentary

With the backing of Purdue University, Purdue Polytechnic High School (PPHS) is revolutionizing education and changing students’ lives.
After recognizing that too few minority high school students were academically prepared for the challenge of postsecondary education at Purdue University, President Mitch Daniels and the Purdue Board of Trustees took action. They created a new high school for K-12 Indiana students who are underserved by traditional high schools and underrepresented in higher education.
In collaboration with dedicated educators, PPHS was built as a STEM-focused, student-directed, hands-on learning environment that empowers students and prepares them for the future, all while serving as a pipeline to Purdue.

This is an awesome way of teaching. It is teaching by doing, which is how I learned pretty much everything that I am passionate about and is interesting to me. This is important for STEM and working tech. If you can learn how to teach yourself by experimenting, it makes your career not a job, but a fun exploration of how much you can push yourself. These kids are very lucky to have the supporting environment to let them grow as much as they can grow when they want to grow. Very cool!
