Watching from the beach as long as I have wifi. Weathering the track makes a difference and I like your plans. I find it’s a pain lifting trains on and off but don’t think I have any alternative. You just reminded me I must clean up when I get back.

Nice update and running session. I agree with Alan you definitely need to have a transfer track between the levels, I’d suggest keeping it as long and gentle as possible 2% gradient if it’ll fit. I think you have missed a trick as you have 4 lines running around the lower section, one of them could have been a very long gradient up and down. Cheers Rob.

It`s a case of the more you get done the more you can do, you still have lots of scope. is worth running an off scence area as a fidle storage yard behind the chimney, which would also be thhe ground work for an extension later on. Like you I don`t want to be in the situation of needing to handle loco`s on and off track particularly with the modern stuff being fragile.
@HemelDownModelRailway
Жыл бұрын
Yeah I’m really contemplating using the other side of the chimney breast that would give me another 25ft by 11ft to play with, I’m going to save up and hopefully each month buy a few boards and put the floor down on that side and then see what I can do, I think that I’ll do an open frame layout a bit like Alan’s see what the summer brings

Hello Mark. Nice update about your plans and thoughts for the next stages of progress on the layout. It will be best to sketch some of them out first though as you say. That way, it should help you visualise them first and see if you like them or not. Also worth trying to temporarily lay some of the track work and points down as well as you try different plans, so that you can see if they will fit and if you like them 'in the flesh' as such. I liked the running session at the end, but you really should of had a brake van on the end of the goods train... All the best, Mark.

Just had a thought and I think that I have actually got that Saturday afternoon booked off as holiday at work. So I may be able to make it, if I can do a quick change when I have finished and drive to the station straight after and catch the train up. Will have to look into it and see if it possible and viable to do so. Otherwise I will go on the Sunday instead. Of course, if you would like to meet up at some point before Ally Pally, then that would be great. Send me a message via Facebook and we can talk about it. Mark.

Hi Mark. Apologies if I have asked this before (and you gave an answer), but you have been adding lines; I have both DC and DCC locos (and therefore appropriate controllers) so I'm trying to think about how to run both types on my layout (not at the same time, of course). My question is: are your DC and DCC tracks completely separate, or do they connect using turnouts with insulating rail joiners?
@HemelDownModelRailway
Жыл бұрын
Hi no worries, at the moment my dc line is completely separate connection I’m using the HM6000 then I have the Nce powercab connection for the 3 other lines, I might have it switchable in the future but I’m not really gifted in the electronics side of things so trying to keep it simple 🙂
