    Hey Joe, still enjoy watching your vids. I dont think the clutch basket was meant to come out before taking the cover off. You should've just gotten the engine up & loose, or out a bit to get the cover off first. You were fighting it to get it out, without pulling the 4 bolts holding the motor. Taking a bit of a shortcut, cost dearly at the end of the day. But, Hey, we live & learn every day. as long as we learn from our (or your) mistakes, it's all good.

    Always the way. Once you're basically already so much in the hole it's now going to be more expensive to drop the whole project than it is to fix any and every extra issue you then find as you strip the engine. As soon as that's the case you can virtually guarantee you're going to find other issues with every step you take, it's also going to be the build where you drop or damage one or two of the things that had been fine but now are another cost in the pit that you've taken on. It's one of the reasons, if you already know it's going to cost you a fair amount and you'll have to strip the entire engine anyway, why I think you should strip down the entire thing before you even spend a dollar on it, so you are sure you have a decent idea of what it's going to cost. Could feel a bit of your pain as you first dropped the basket but especially when you found the bent valves. This is one of your videos that feels the most like what it'd be like if watching a video of me rebuilding an engine and fixing a Motorbike or Quad etc. Can't wait to hear that thing roar though.

  • @johnb5519
    @johnb55196 ай бұрын

    That's too bad about that clutch basket. Accidents do happen though. I had the same thing happen to me one time pulling the mag off an RZ350. It popped off so fast I couldn't catch it, and it fell on the floor cracking one of the magnets. Luckily I found one at a motorcycle wreckers, but what a pain.

    Have to look at all your work as a “whole”. So as a whole you are doing very well. There will always be scams and bad luck and mistakes but they are a part of “success”. Just try to distance yourself when things are well and when things don’t work out. Kind of keep it calm and try to enjoy it all.

    You should have taken the complete clutch assembly off before you tried to split the case. AND you should have put something under where you were working anyway. That way, if something was to fall off,and hit the ground, you would have protection from the concrete floor. Your own fault for that.

    Joe for all the useful information you put out for free, the guy should have gave you the parts! I know personally you have saved me a ton of cash, and prevented me from doing stupid s*it that could have been a disaster. A million thumbs up from Cut Bank, Montana!😊
