Good day. I picked up the plans 3 or 4 months ago. Probly going to be a winter project. I only had a look at them one time and for me they are the first set of plans I ever looked at. Little intimidating. There is 2 sets of mersments for the arms did u go short or long. And you stick to the size it called for for all the metal or did you beaf it up some. Looking at it on paper its had to see the end project. And I keep watching the rest of them you probly all ready answered it all ready lol.

I agree, it is a little intimidating. Just take it page by page and you will be fine! Which arms are you referring to? The outriggers are the size that the blueprints called for, I believe there are 2 measurements for the crowd arm. We went with the shorter one, since 5.5 feet was plenty of depth for the tractor. We did beef up some of the metal, 1) our local steel supplier didnt carry the size it called for (but we kept the outside demensions the same) 2) we went thicker on the crowd arm so we could make it out of one piece instead of welding on brackets. If you still have questions, dont hesitate to ask!

I really wish we could, however the cost would not be worth it. I haven't crunched the numbers but it would probably be between 6 or 7 thousand. The DIY portion is where you save money.

What was the material cost, roughly? I have not welded since 1984! lol

Metal was less than $400. I believe everything else was another $1000ish. This was my first welding project. Never welded anything, never been around welding until I bought this welder about 3 months before I built this.

I am looking at welders and a chop saw now, maybe a plasma cutter! I can't even buy the "little Buck" loader for $1400! Not to mention my JD 430 may get a complex with that little thing on it! lol I guess I will be cutting and burning some metal this winter! Thanks for the info and good luck with future projects, I will be watching...
