Building a Mclaren F1 LM from scratch ( It took three years!! )

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is the build log (photo laps) of how I built a replica of the iconic Mclaren F1 LM. It begins where I take off 18 years later after I first began working on the car. If you have any questions about the build feel free to comment below.

And for those "Purist" who dares to say its "FAKE" or "Replica"... This man BUILT IT WITH HIS OWN HANDS. Its most Legit, Most Certified car u can have. When u literally build it with your own hands. Just because u spend 10 of millions on "Real" mclaren dose not mean u own it. This guy owns every bit of this masterpiece. And its most real mclaren u can have, built with passion.

It is very impressive that this car was built all by hand. That doesn't make it "original" though. The original which is designed and built by McLaren is in fact an owned design produced for the public market. This is called intellectual property. A McLaren is built after testing and design work for every single part on the vehicle with each one being optimized for it's purpose. While this car is truly awesome calling it a McLaren is not right as it doesn't contain all the design and manufacturing techniques that McLaren uses. Call it the Brough Special and it's great but it's just not a McLaren.

Brough Built its very clear that your an artist! That’s actually what stood out to me the most. I’ve seen many people build replicas of their dream cars, but what separates you is your artistic attention to detail. It’s clear this wasn’t just a project that was attempting to get close to what the original car was. You went beyond and thought through each detail to a level that is beyond what most would do. To top it off, the artist in you is clear in all details. If you ever considered making a company to produce many of these or built to order for clients, I think you would have a very successful business.

You found a way to own one without having to pay $15,000,000. The side windows seem a little small compared to the original and the front fender flares seem a little large. But i don't want to act like i could do any better. I don't have the skill to do ANY of this. I watched the whole video. You should be so proud of what you have done. I wish i was your neighbor so i could see this thing in person. Cheers to you. Amazing job.

Thank you! I am in the process of making the car road legal. Last two things I have to do is install a windshield wiper (even though I hope to never have to use it) as well as a park brake. Where I live you are allowed to use Lexan.

Looks like a kit car still, the proportions are off, the rake of the front window and the arch of the roof. The way the rear quarter meets the hatch, all completely off. Reminds me of the Fiero Ferraris.

Nice little build. I on the other hand built something similar but mined and smelted my own metals , drilled my own oil in which I synthesized into various polymers and products at the lab in my garage, raised my own cows for leather ,and grew rubber trees in my backyard (for tires of course)....... but seriously, folks, those are the only things this man didn't do in this build ! I know the words "build" and "built" gets thrown around a lot , but this man literally built a super car from the ground up ... takes the word "capable" to a whole new level . I enjoyed every minute of this . Congrats!

More than I can explain. So many years of sitting inside the dirty, dusty cockpit and dreaming that one day it would actually become a real car driving down the road?! Some days when walking into my workshop and looking at it, I couldn't think that it would ever become a reality. But yes, the first drive as short as it was, was one of the most gratifying things I've ever experienced.
