The more videos you and others make of these things, the more money we save on top of developing an understanding of really cool gear. I want to buy all of these things, but it’s just not practical or possible. I really appreciate being able to emulate so much through VCV. Just gotta ignore the people who hate laptops on stage 😎 Thanks, Omri.

What a great excercise! I have a Cosmos and it sounds pretty much the same. That Pink Floyd vibe in the final test is wonderful.

Absolutely brilliant. VCV is getting to the point that I don't need to buy pedals ( I'm a guitar player ) and could create my own. And where I live, pedals are extremely expensive.

Yeah, you can definitely use VCV as a pedal setup. Have a look here - www.youtube.com/@VirtualModular/videos I'm sure you will find this interesting :)
Love this Omri. It’s screaming for a felt piano, I’m about to make it so, cheers! 🍄

magnificent, the first part with 4 princes of perception gives me strong Radiohead vibe, maybe reminds some pitches from them I’m trying to follow along with my m-audio oxygen and play too, thank you Omri for such inspirational videos, every time i see them i get an urge to play something 😄
Thanks Omri. Love this kind of hardware breakdown video. Plenty of tricky pedals out there for you to dissect! Mood? Microcosm? Quick question: which mode were you in for supercell (sorry if I missed it!) thanks again! 🙏🏽
@OmriCohen-Music

Thanks! Microcosm is on my list for a long time, but I'm not so sure how to approach it since it can do so much... About Supercell, I'm in the default granular mode :)

It's difficult to replicate pedals exactly but I had a few goes at the Microcosm and got some very similar sounds using Simpliciter. To be honest, I prefer to try and create new effects rather than emulating existing hardware. VCV is actually far more powerful and flexible than most pedals, for example Cosmos has 4 delay lines but you could easily patch up loads more in Rack. I've used 20+ delay modules on a mid range laptop before! Apart from one or two effects like a clean pitch shift/audio harmoniser VCV can do almost anything.
Impressive !
Interesting concepts for a setup. Somehow I feel the NOI Sunflower module in VCV may be useful for this kind of thing too, something about cycling between delay signals with it's particular way of mixing adjacent inputs.

Omni, I really love your technique videos and the style of breaking down pedals/gear. I tried this and found that using modules like the Vult Send, the Bogaudio Mix4, and using more CVMix's to add a feedback path to each of the delays to cascade (with some strict limiting on how much you can add), made a much more convincing Cosmos recreation. (in my opinion at least) Wonderful video, and a great starting point for everyone to make some wonderful music with.

Sounding great. I used to do something similar in bidule if anyone remembers that?
As always a great tutorial. What keyboard controler do you use?

So I approached this a bit differently, thinking hey Soma does some pretty cool ambient/generative/spacey creative stuff how much could this pedal cost on the used market? After waking up in the emergency room from Sticker Shock I am, once again, appreciative of The Master. Love this! Cheers Omri!

Oh man, feel better soon!
When you use the delay module in tempo synced mode it's limited to a maximum of one bar. Is there a way to extend it to 2 bars or 4 bars or maybe 8 bars ?
@OmriCohen-Music
5 ай бұрын
Hi! Yes, there are a few ways of doing this. You can change the PPQ setting in the right click menu to make the clock even slower, or just use a clock division as the clock signal. For example, divided by 4 will give you 4 bars. The delay will need a bit longer to sync up, but then it's rock solid :)

@@OmriCohen-Music Nice. Thanks. I will have to try that but there is also an issue with the feedback. When you set the feedback at 100% it's not supposed to amplify the existing buffer more and more until it explodes. That's wrong. That means that the feedback is way more than 100% but it's not showing the actual number. At least the freeze function seems to simulate the feedback being 100% without amplifying it out of control.
Can you do something like this for the Hologram Microcosm ?
@OmriCohen-Music

I have it on my list, but it can do so much, it's hard to have it all in one patch
