Building a Log Cabin Start to Finish | Timelapse

Ойын-сауық

Solo log cabin build without any music or words. From clearing the land and harvesting logs, to milling lumber on an Alaskan chainsaw mill for kitchen countertops. The cabin was water tight in 60 days, and I moved in right away. I used spruce logs that were still green due to the lack of time before winter set in. I lived on site during the entire build process staying in a hot tent.

Your did this yourself, alone. You can't do this without own alot of logic in your mind. I have highest level of respect to you, count on that. You showed us all how its possible, the amount of saving our time if ever wanna do this ourselves one day is atleast 70 %. Somebody in the comments wrote this vid is the best ever, I fully agree. You are a true surviver, and that my friend means you are a person of trust. I hope you could save most of cabin and just transport it somewhere else. You now have IKEA parts 😅

Loved watching this video! I was glad to see that this was actually a large livable cabin, most videos are just a little shelter or maybe a vacation/hunting cabin. I would havee been interested in seeing if the loft upstair could have been turned into a useful space, even if just for the bed and some storage. Likewise, it would be cool if there was a way to mount a flat metal surface on top of the wood burning stove, if even only to have a pot of boiling water, or heat some things up without having to use any other power or gas. Boiling snow for a steady supply of water in the winter also wouldnt hurt, depending on what facilities and such you have already

Hmmmm Poles as building blocks is interesting. Composite materials are something id be interested in using in order to build a house to alleviate demand on wood supply. if a pole is capable of being wound as a carbon fiber part it could be ordered in specific lengths and filled with foam for insulation. The Carbon/Fiberglass part would look just like a wooden log as you are using here. Fiberglass and carbon as sheets or lumber to build in the same style is a traditional stick and frame house doesnt work with issues regarding to screwing or nailing and the use of adhesives. A likin log approach would solve a majority of these issues. Poles would be easy to ship and a house/shelter could be assembled in as little as a week with interior to follow.

That is really sad after all that hard work. We are not truly free anymore. Mining laws used to afford you the right to construct a building on your claim and gave you timber rights and also reserve the right to apply for a crown grant after a period of time. Sadly those rights have been all severely eroded over the decades, mostly without notice. Kudos to you for respecting the new regulations, that would have been very difficult and disheartening decision to make, but it reflects your moral character and integrity..... hopefully it doesn't discourage you in your future endeavours.....keep going, don't let it defeat you, you will get there!
