    When cutting the lexan tracks, the table saw/ band saw would make a cleaner straight cut if you have the larger piece against the rip fence and push with a push block. The way you did it, you are pushing into the cutting blade

    I LOVE that you made your own doors, BUT,,, years ago I helped build a 1980 Malibu Wagon and we used the factory doors only extremely lightened up. ALL of the guts were removed and the hinges and glass, but the outer shell including the frame for glass was saved. We made hinges out of heavy gauge wire rod and 5/16th nuts. Lexan for the windows. The factory outer door handle. Factory latch and on the inside we did pretty much the same as you did.. The window did not move, but it was plenty easy to open the door and remove the doors.. After all the reduction we saw a huge drop in weight. I don't remember how much but I could balance a door on one finger from the inside.. Again, I know you are building your own thing and I think that is very cool, but I wonder how much you actually saved in weight? I know this cost you a lot of time AND MONEY!!! lol... And yes, Covid weight is a REAL THING.. I have been killing myself for the last 11 months and have lost 72 pounds so far..

    Another great video. How in the world did you manage to rivet through the plexiglass without cracking it? I tried a bunch of different ways and using a small washer on the back and softer aluminum rivets worked, but still occasionally broke. Also, thanks for showing weight in lbs. I can convert length and temperature from Metric to 'Murica in my head pretty good, but I'm not a drug smuggler so i have no idea how much a kg is in lbs.

  • @VinyB57

    @VinyB57

    Ok this is how we are f... up in our way to quantify things. Pool are in Freedomheigh Weight is in lbs Humain height are more typically in feet and inches Ousite temp is in Celsius We learn metric in school, but we work (fab shops and OEM) in inch since plates and tubes available are made in inch Diatances are in metric KM Speed also KM/h All the cars are in metric, just like you (I think), actually all cars are in english, cluster and dash infos...no frenchy there! And for the rivet, don t know how I did it...luck I guess 🤷‍♂️ Or it s that magic frenchy touch! And you made me remember to put Kg in the video, so other will get instanly a feel on what I was talking.. btw, 1kg =2.2lbs...and don t start me on the tonnage on some ratings...it s mostly metric tonnage, so its 2200 lbs, but not all the time...it s a real shit show! 🤦‍♂️

    Hey Viny! Always great to see your work. Just had one query. For the side view mirror, the transition fillet at the bolting location, would that be stable at high speed? Will the 3D print hold?

  • @VinyB57

    @VinyB57

    2 жыл бұрын

    The 3D print is rock solid, for real! But I've got also some worries regarding the attachement points....which are few and in ''soft'' material...so we'll see during high speed runs! 🤷‍♂️

    another great video Viny.. lots more hard work gone into this one again. As usual, great content and i love the humour injection. I have worked with a lot of lexan and similar materials so keep your eye on the drilled holes, if the cracks start it will be from there. But i hope not. ;-).

    Hi Gary, I design automatic machines for my daily job, and we are using Lexan everywhere and you're 100% right, we regularly have issues with cracking holes, using nuts and bolts. Don,t know how the rivets will affect those holes over the time! 🤷‍♂️ we'll see...

  • @calholli
    @calholli2 жыл бұрын

    It would have worked better on the table saw (if that's all you had) --- if you would have just put another board on top of it, and pressed down firmly as you were pushing it through, so that it wouldn't "bounce" upwards, causing it to crack; and sandwiching it under a board would also help to keep the edge from chipping.
