Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
On this episode of The Downshift, Fred Williams of Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road heads to Jeep's Toledo, Ohio factory to watch a Wrangler JK Rubicon being built. This 2012 Wrangler is the exact vehicle Fred and his team will modify to compete in this year's grueling Ultimate Adventure competition.
The Downshift appears every Tuesday on the new Motor Trend channel.

I'm really grateful for the people who, you know, make our cars. I just cant wait until I make a car company. I think they are really reperesenting us well!
2 shifts , 10 hour-shift damn , they r working their asses off
The Ultimate Adventure is cool. I'm looking forward to the DVD!
What a tease. You should have somehow told me right away that you were only going to show me the beginning of a segment that will continue later on. Then I wouldn't feel as cheated as I do now. But keep up the great work, guys :)
Glad you liked it. Thanks for the feedback.
makes wants to be working there for sure! Great video Fred!
my hometown, jeep is the only thing keeping the city alive.
I think they should take it to one of those southern rock racing series and see how it would hold up
Great video, you guys should do more stuff with Fred!
Toledo, Ohio factory....that's the factory that made my 98 XJ! I miss the Cherokees...
We've owned a jeep for less than a year and have already had to get it towed... When you back it into a creek, using 32" street tires with high pressure, and your only two wheels with any grip are on wet grass, it's pretty tough to get unstuck. Jeeps are very common, in my area anyways, so I'm not surprised they get towed often. Especially since 99% of Jeep owners take them off road at some point.
jeep is jeep , hugs from Brazil
Pretty sad when the engineer talks about the independent suspension on a solid axle Jeep.

In all fairness,, each wheel does move independently. It's just that the opposite wheel goes the opposite way. ;-)
Went to the Jeep plant in the summer of '13 as part of my Stanley Cup road trip, and managed to talk my way into a tour of the plant seeing the assmebly line from individual panels to tub to pre-accesories (which is another sub-contractor on the same site). Verry Cool !! Wish you could park beside the Jeep 'monument' but it's not in a good spot. Hoping they do the 'Jeep Experience' thing they were talking about letting people tour the plant, go to their former off-road test track and drive arond a bit, and possibly see their vehicle being built like they do for Corvettes and BMWs. Love my '12 JKU Rubicon, and will be replacing it when the refresh comes out in 15/16, would love it if they allowed me to pick it up @ the plant and see it roll off the assembly line. Maybe at that time I'll keep my Rubi Doozer and mod it proper-like to then take part in the Ultimate adventure too. =B~) Thanks Petersen's for this Vid and for the Magazine too.
I feel like this belongs on your local news channel.. at like 2 in the morning.. as one of those paid advertisements that you flip through to find something with explosions
Mine comes just from there!!! Awesome!!!
Love my 2000 TJ Wrangler, needs a few repairs, but shes been through a lot
All ABOUT 4RUNNERS WHO'S WITH ME!?!!?
Humanity at its finest in these comments....
I like the part where the woman is beating the interior piece by the windshield with a hammer, lol
i wanted to see more of the factory : ( thats an interesting part
The known issues stem from the early engines manufactured on out-of-spec equipment in Mexico. Those issues have been resolved. Expect big things from the powertrain platform in the JK. The truly noteworthy thing about a Jeep is it the last true SUV on the planet that can be had for less than $30k. It's an American icon that helped win WWII and helped conquer rural areas after the war. In its current form its the most capable off-road vehicle in the world for the price.
let haters be haters .. people will buy what they want to buy. I'll be the first to admit that my jeep is a mall crawler!.. I bought it because I loved it and I can take the top and 2 doors off. It gives me a smile everytime I drive it! I may not be into the 4x4 scene with it but Im not against those that are. Don't hate on others because of what they spend their money on .. whether it be a 4x4 beast or a shiny clean mall crawler.!! If it makes you happy to drive it .. thats what counts.!
It is the first part to a series it is just introducing the vehicle :)
I spoted quite a few evo parts throughout the clips from ultimate adventure. Lol
I'm sorry that you're in Toledo. lol I spent 7 years of my life there.
Anyone catch the Chrysler Engineering Manager at 2:30 saying that the jeep Wrangler has undergone tremendous changes over the years and now has 4 wheel coil INDEPENDENT suspension? I don't even have words.
This was a really cool video. Just makes me wish i had a jeep harder. *sigh*.. one day.
Whoops, wrong video! (Walks away with sheepish grin)
Why do these shows make me want to buy a jeep
Best people in the world
Nice I love jeep
The video could have been retitled, but I don't see why so many people are thumbing this down...
I wish Jeep would have built the concept jeepster they were showing us back in 2004 It had a 4.7 H.O. V8 in a modified 2dr wrangler platform
this is great, I am going to take one soon.
I AM FROM TOLEDO OHIO.....OMG WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Rubicon is a drink in the UK
"The Jeep Wrangler has come such a long way from a cheap, noisy, bumpy vehicle..... to an expensive, noisy, bumpy vehicle".
the best!!!!

agree!!! I want GM 5.3L in these jeep.
Well yes, you're partly correct. However, the title said for ultimate adventure. Therefore, I assumed it would be aftermarket modifications or at least some sort of customization for off-road experience. Not some footage of people talking, other modded Jeeps, or footage of the assembly line where robots install doors. That is what I call an advertisement.
0:37 awseome, that is D-Day paintball park, my favorite site to play airsoft!
Jeep is the car you buy if you want to be left stranded in the middle of the desert after it burns to the ground.
more than 80 horsepower, 20lbft of torque, and 2 mpg are a pretty huge difference if you asked anyone.
If they renamed the video to something like "Ultimate Adventure Preparation" or "The beginning of a Wrangler Rubicon" I guess people wouldn't have complained as much
Put any stock bronco to a stock Rubicon, pretty sure that bronco is toast. I've done mild rock crawling for years with a YJ and TJ, and I have seen more broncos fall apart on the trails more than any Jeep I've seen. Even the little D35 jeeps were going more vertical, better ingress and egress angles, better fuel consumption and all around better ride that the bronco couldn't match. But if I had the money, I would want a jacked up 71' Bronco time now! But technically speaking, jeep wins.
I wanna go!
I saw every top gear episode (not exaggerating) and while the old wranglers were somewhat unreliable they were extremely easy to fix. The new wranglers with the penstar v6 are very reliable especially with a 6 speed manual so less worries about the transmission going out. Top Gear is generally bullshit when it comes to facts and accurate content, its all for entertainment.
MAANN !! NICEE
It doesn't REALLY show how it's built.... I know that's not what the title says but what other way am I suppose to take it?
Anyone else agree that the pentastar 3.6 pretty much have the jeep it's respect back after that 3.8 failure
With the 4Runner you get a vehicle that's capable of going off road while retaining car like ride comfort and most importantly reliability plus they keep their value in the long run. Plus if were talking about the Trail Edition 4Runner than yeah it'll more than keep up with any new Wrangler, but this is a Jeep video so i don't wanna discuss this topic on here feel free to pm me though if you wanna continue this discussion.
i have this "dream vehicle" and i havent even gone 4 wheeling..
dad works there! team leader on right hand door line!
"They take a lot of pride in making these vehicles" 5 seconds later there's a lady belting on the windshield with a rubber mallet. Lol. Great cars tho!
I find the wrangler now very comfy off road and its very quite sometimes you dont even know its on and when you drive on a bumpy road and take the stabilizer off its alot better than say a toyota and you can get them super cheap in america when the rubicon in australia is 50 grand its not expensive compared to its competition
That was exactly what this Video suposed to do..You see in Titles "Building a Jeep Wrangler for Ultimate Adventure"..
I live in Toledo!!!
Thank You Henry Ford

Could you do more off road videos?
Was Fred speechless there for a moment? When he turned around and looked at the orange beauty? I did a quick search and couldn't find any subsequent videos. Can someone shoot me a link to the build videos? Thanks in advance
when will we see a gt500 vs ZL1 video??
No second episode ??
ya we need more 1950s 1960s 1970s cars man the good ones like ford gm chrysler and the stock car they mand
I just about blew a fuse when I found out Fiat was the new owner of Jeep.....
If they use pride to build a jeep, why did they guy at 3:09 use a hammer to put in the windshield lol
Anyways, Italians make other American icons like Ray Bans and they do it well. So as long as they keep it manly and rugged let them do what they do best, building cars, so I hope Jeeps get also built well.

Don't forget their wonderful sense of design!!!
Just because Fiat owns it, doesn't mean that magically everything will move to Italy and it will all be redesigned with independent suspension, etc. Jeep is THE offroad brand, and it will stay that way.
seriously? Jeep wranglers are known for having an incredible resale value. In fact they have the best percent resale value out of any mass produced vehicle on the market. look it up
well I guess you could bring those things if you wanted :p
no fn way u where right next to my houseeeeee
...how does this video still have more likes than dislikes?
MY CITY!!!
Interesting.
ITS GOOD
hahahaha he said it was a jk rubicon!!!
So weird to see Fred like that
Haha you just made a few people cry @anthony pellegrino "no something like a corolla is gay"
ummm, so where is the jeep the built for the Ultimate Adventure???
I actually really like my 2013 Jeep Wrangler, considering i had a honda civic before I'd say the ride is alot better. Wasn't to expensive, cheaper to insure and cheaper per month then my old civic. Just made sense, i was ether going to get a FJ or this, i couldn't afford a used FJ but i could afford this. Go Figure..
yeah people get pretty pissed when i out wheel them in my carberated inline 4. INLINE 4 FTMFW
my brother bought one of those :D epic car
Have you ever tried one?
MERICA!!!!
Proud to be an AAmmmerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrican
old jeeps will always be better, less plastic
This is a Jeep Wrangler..Just Kidding..Rubicon
my 84 jimmy . enough said
And I wouldn't trade mine for anything.
I didn't say it was yours, but you must have some ties to it to promote it in that way. It doesn't seem nearly good enough to point out to people, and it's in no way superior to MotorTrend's. Also, I am actually subscribed to saabkyle04, but only because he shows a side of very exciting cars (e.g. supercars, high-end luxury cars, etc.) that typical reviews don't bother to point out, in great depth. His channel is a much better version of what you were promoting.
The new 3.6L Pentastar isnt as reliable as you think it is, their known for having cam phasers crap out on them and having misfire codes because of bad valves. The only benefit the Jeep has is its cheap, loads of aftermarket upgrades, ready for light trails and it has a solid axle up front aside from that nothing else is really note worthy, it has the aerodynamics of a brick and is slow even with a 6 speed manual plus because its a Jeep its gonna have lots of problems down the road.
every one i know that has a jeep always had problems and i know a tow tuck guy and he said the number one car he tows the most is a jeep and the consumer reports didn't even give good reviews it even struggled going up there rocky hill at there test track
Bronco= jeep killer
also, I thumbed the video down because MotorTrend has had some screwy videos...like when they went offroading in the Wrangler Altitude and showed more interior shots of a Grand Cherokee than they did the wrangler
Are you referring to Jeep as being a brand of General Motors? Jeep is a brand of Chrysler, not GM.
Would u rather go with a land rover ?
Spoiler Alert: They don't show the build _or_ the finished jeep...
LOL ! XD
HAHAHA so true
