Building a DIY Jeep JKU seat delete and cargo plate system

The Jeep build is getting more in depth, and since I wasn't about to drop a billion dollars on factory made storage platforms, I decided to figure one out myself and it came out AWESOME!

This video needs more views, you just saved me thousands. As a novice adventurer this something weighing on my mind. This doesn't look as hard as anticipated.

I watched this video from beginning to end which is rare for me. Great build and seems practical for all kinds of use. I must also comment on the editing. It probably took longer to edit than to build it. But It kept things flowing and interesting. You just found a new subsrciber. Enjoy the Jeep. Hope to see more videos soon!

Thanks so much! The platform has been such an amazing game changer. Casey edits all of our videos and has gotten really good at it. These project videos are a lot faster to edit than the vlogs, but definitely still take a good amount of time! - Paige

You could put marine carpet onto the ply then you won’t get the scratches. It came up great great job 😊

We cut a piece of carpet that we store in one of the bins that we can easily deploy depending on our cargo and that’s been a great solution so far!

I was told at a hardware store that the replacement bolts that are used as the four anchor points are M6 1.02 bolts. Can you tell me where you found them long enough to go through the new deck? Thanks.

Are the strips of wood, under the base, half inch or 3/4 inch thick to give the base that slight lift? Im using 3/4 inch baltic birch for my base and wasnt sure if 1/2 inch strips under the base would provide the clearance over some of the bolts

They are half inch which was perfect to clear the tie down bolts and plastic trim near the tailgate where the sport bars attach to the tub. There’s a second half inch strip running horizontally across the very back at the tailgate, only an inch or two wide. That spot needed a full inch of spacer to level everything. -Casey

Nice job! Did you consider using gray indoor/outdoor carpeting to cover the plywood?

I’ve been keeping a piece of carpet in one of the storage bays for when I need to cover the plate depending on what I’m loading. I like the look of the wood when I’m not carrying anything, and sometimes the low friction is nice depending on my cargo, so I’ve found that to be the best of both worlds!
