Guess what… it’s FINALLY POUR DAY! We’ve been waiting for this day for years, and we’re shocked at how quickly it came. While we were hoping to have poured a day sooner, we’re still amazed at how quickly we were able to excavate the homesite, do the form work and get the green light on the pour. After this we get to work on our draining, stacking our ICF walls, and before long we’ll be ready for our second pour of the build!

As a guy who did concrete work for 10 years I have to say you guys did great and I would definitely consider you an asset on a job site.
As someone who is a code guy, 1). you want to direct the water around your house not under your slab. 2). You don't need two Ufer grounds or check continuity. You only check continuity on manufactured homes and factory built houses that arrive in multiple pieces. So you check continuity in the electrical systems of the front various pieces. 3). If you're going to have conditioned space above your slab you really really really should have included a vapor barrier and capillary break. The dry air created by your air-conditioner will draw tons of water through your slab and destroy any flooring you put on it.
every video I watch I tell myself one day sell everything and do the same you guys look happier than 99% of people

James H Rings are one of the worst things to have on when you are working with equipment or plants as any injury or allergic reaction can cause the finger it is on to start swelling up. 9 times out of 10 they have to cut the ring to get it off. No reason to look for a ring on a smart person. If they wish to have a ring and not have it at risk they have it on a chain around the neck but that still is a risk of losing it if the chain breaks. On people that work with high voltage they often will not even wear a watch let alone a chunk of metal directly touching skin. Metal workers also are known to not wear them as the heat can transfer to skin faster with a big heat sink.

Drone1Media i say the same but with a kid on way that's on hold for now
Jesse and Alyssa, really appreciated watching this. Thanks alot once again for taking us along on your journey!
Watching you two has given my great joy. A friend of mine wanted to build a log cabin. I told him we could do it. It took us 2 1/2 years. I know what it's like to do each part and the joy you get from doing a job and knowing you did it right. The logs were in a kit, but that made it a lot easier. Keep up the good work!!!
I have cried, cheered and prayed and you two have done it.......your teamwork is amazing!
You guys have accomplished so much as a couple, this concrete pouring is important to the longevity of a physical home, but you both have long since laid the most important foundation….Love and respect for each other. Good job!
Some people talk about doing it , others do it..... Well done guys 😎
You two are amazing, doing all this work and still sacrificing yourselves to share this with us. You are working 12-16 hour days and then taking the time to edit and upload, ROCK STARS....
AWESOME GUYS!!!!!! GREAT JOB!!!!! CHICK RUNNING EQUIPMENT AND FINISHING CONCRETE.... I'm about to loose my mind!!!!! CONGRATS!!!!!! GREAT JOB!!!!!!!
I am soooooooo excited for you guys! You have just built the foundation of your home and the amazing life you are building is shaping up. Good for you!
Now that went smoothly! Before going to bed last night, writing this at 8 in the morning, I hoped that this video would be up for my breakfast. It was, and it was GREAT. You should be very proud of yourselves. My only regret is that living in Sweden I can't rush over and help you. You two have an amazing relationship that hopefully will help you completing this and many more challenges.
I am so glad you posted this right away. I've been waiting all day. A meeting literally kept me from checking. It went GREAT! You two, and your friends and professional people are just a like a well oiled machine. So impressive. I'm with Drone1, I just keep marking the days until I can chuck it all and start my own adventure. Thanks for the inspiration.
Ya'll are AMAZING! Thank you so much for letting me join you on your journey. Very much appreciated.
Well I am so happy for you guys, finally a giant step to the start of the house build. Not to negate the TREMENDOUS amount of work you both have put into all the thing you did to prepare for this day, like the water system and all the other things you have done. I have watched you both work side by side and stand in awe. You are both committed to the project and in spite of some of your frustrations setbacks and disappointments you have kept on keeping on. Big thumbs up and pats on your backs. Boo to all the naysayers, critics and armchair quarterbacks. Just do us all a favor, take some time off, a couple of days at least, while the footing dry and get some rest. Have a celebratory drink and have some fun. You both deserve it! Congratulations!👍🏻
I've been watching a lot of your videos and I have to say that I was very excited to see that you started pouring concrete today. It seems like we've been waiting for this day to come for quite some time. I'm very happy for you guys.
Now I've seen everything. Thank you very much. I really appreciate this video. It was very considerate of you to post in a mode I can view. I'm trying to get a new computer, but at my age i'm at the bottom of the list. I found a picture of the solar house I built back in the late 70's. I'll try and post it. that's what gran kids are fore. Take care and God Bless.
Just want to say how. Ugh I look forward to these vlogs, awesome job guys!!!!

Not UGH but HOW!!!
Wow, another eventful day and what a huge move for you guys in building your home. So happy for you both!
This day is a big milestone for you guys. Congratulations!
I've watched quite a few of your videos, and it really made my day to hear you refer to Allyssa as a "Trooper" . I think one of the things I like best in your videos, is the fact that girl jumps right into anything you need done without hesitation. Even operating the heavy equipment.
I have to admit that things are becoming more tangible and less ideas. Going from... "the house will sit over there" to concrete in the forms" has got to be an awesome feeling. Once the walls and stuff start to go up will put that light at the end of the tunnel just that much closer. Thank you for sharing!
Cheering all the way from Texas!!!! Concrete is POURED!
Congratulations guys, I have been following you for months and this must be such a great feeling. All the preparation and now the first step of your house.
I am a retired engineer, contractor, journeyman carpenter. I built mostly in earthquake country, our rebar had to be inspected, No stabbing, and required a 12 in L bend tied to footing rebar.

I been waiting to see the waste pipe go in, and water lines. Now they have to digg under the fottings? At least in sweden we digg in the pipes/electrical first and then later pour the slabs. Great video! still its amazing what these 2 people are doing.

Seismic Design Category A, B, and C for residential construction permits stabbing of verticals without 90° hooks. I picked a random spot in Idaho and the seismic design values were SDC B, so that's what they are probably using. For SoCal, Bay Area, and Sierra's (historically seismic zone 4), this is a no-go even for residential construction. For this application the connection is considered a shear-only connection so does not require the same development normally expected.
It makes my heart SMILE to see this ... Y'all knocked it out of the park !!! The hardest work will so pay off in the end !!! Way to go you two !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Job well done guys, I have been with you from day one. I'm so happy for you, you two are the hardest working people I have ever seen, my hat's off to you. Be safe.
Y'all are going to be so proud of all the hard planning and hard work you put into this deal . I'm proud for you . Congratulations !
Super excited for you guys! HUGE moment! I watch your videos all the time. I'm glad today was the first (and last) day I read the comments, too many uneducated and negative opinions. Keep up the great work, you guys make a great team!
give each other a really big hug, you both deserve it
Yes Yes Yes !!!! You got it DONE! Great to have bashed your way through that. Gives me inspiration for my outbuilding pour next year. But we have actual inspections of everything here. HUGE CONGRATS!!!!
Hey... Congrats on getting the footings done.. Awesome job guys. Onwards and upwards.
You guys are artisans! Well done! Thank you for sharing your experience with the rest of us!
Never in my life would I have thought that I would be so excited/intrigued to see this concrete pour. Darn it I'm hooked! Looks great guys!
You folks did a fantastic job of getting ahead of the night mare that this could have been. I am retired military and I am thoroughly impressed. Nicely done!
Awesome job guys you too are the perfect couple, I'm sorry Lissa been sick are they a little one on the way guys.....keep the videos coming guy luv watching the progress on the cabin thank y'all for sharing..,
It's nice to see you guys found a way to put all those rocks (from excavating) to good use. LOL LOL LOL *TWO THUMBS UP*
We love watching, even my children enjoy your videos! Congrats on this huge milestone!!
what a milestone!! great job you two, take a second to think about the journey behind and ahead of you and how the first pour really is a game changer
Thanks for the video! I m not planning on going off the grid but you've inspired me to include my wife on a simple sidewalk project. Your advice about being on the same page worked and we had a great time.
Congratulations on the poor I'm so happy for you guys. Can't wait to see the finished house. Watching your videos as giving me a new inside on the what me and my wife want to do. Thanks so much and keep up the great videos.
What a team! You guys are working so hard for a common goal. I held my breath during most of the pour!! Incredible job!!!!
I have been in construction for about ten years so still new to it..but it just goes to show you half the ppl in the comments are just dumb because if you passed the inspection and they poured the concrete then your doing a great job... I hate getting on KZread and watching you all work so hard then ppl put you down so bad they are just jealous I guess Idk. But you all are doing a great job there is many ways to do stuff in construction just because it's not like someone else does not mean it's not right or going to pass inspection
@kevinrichter5879

I don't know if they are doing it right or wrong, as for the inspection they are in an area that all that was needed was a plot plan of where the building is going. They have no inspectors or codes they have to follow, there are still places like that in rural parts
@w1d0wm4k3r420

whuzzzup whatttttt no way so they don't need an inspection for anything where they live like no septic inspection even?
A good home starts with a solid foundation. CONGRATS! You can do it!
Wow, that was awesome! All that hard work, research and prep really paid off! It looks amazing!
Rule no. 1 when pouring concrete is to bump the forms to get rid of any air pockets that might create honey combs which you will see when you take the forms off.
I don't know about you, but I just breathed a BIG sigh of relief. Wow!!! This seems like such a monumental step in the process, and I am SO glad it went so smoothly for you! :D
Great video guys. The music tempo matched the pace of things as you went from the relaxed morning of preparation to the fast paced pour. For newbies, your finish turned out well.
Great Job you two. The hard part is done, everything looked like it went smoothly. Can't wait for the next steps to start.
Great work. Thanks for letting us tag along!
I was so excited to see this video headline! I'm so happy for you guys! - NOW, the payback for all your hard work starts to REALLY pay off! Keep up the great work, ignore the trolls and ignore all the click-bait crap going on on KZread! Congratulations, Jesse & Alyssa! 🙌👍🤸
It is getting more and more exciting with every new video. Well done. Go on, Team Alyssa and Jesse.
Love the effort you are putting into your videos. Obviously compatible personalities and visions between the two of you. I look forward to each new episode.
Awesome pour guys...everything looked great & neither of Ya'll looked to frazzled. Yeah, ready for a new day...& won't be long until Ur peeling logs. Crank up the sawmill & get to sawing. Can't wait...the fun has only begun.

So so happy for you guys! It's been a lot if hard work to get to this stage and you s have so much work ahead of you's but this feels like a massive leap forward. I know you's have had a lot if haters about not doing this sooner but I have always understood that planning is key and you s wanted to do it right this first time round. With every video that's you s up load I know I want to bulid my own home one day. Keep up the good work and one day when I travel to the states I might be able to come help with somthing that's if you haven't finished it all by then. Lots of love guys from Scotland Ian x
Wow, really getting exciting, this is a giant leap forward !
Good to see it went smoothly. And why wouldn't it? You have invested so much time in preparation, your success is well deserved! Keep up the good work.
GREAT JOB!!! All that planning and double checking paid off.
I get a sense of fullfilment when watching this video. You have done amazing work, can't wait for future videos
Nice job with the pour....Enjoy watching the both of you work together
Congrats on the pour! I know you are glad that is over!
That was an amazing segment. I don't know (or care) about the inspection process, what I saw was informative and entertaining -which is why I continue to watch. Along the way I'm sure I get my share of good information. Thanks for all you two do.
Overall looks fantastic. I can see why your concrete "consultant" said he'd hire you. Well planned and well executed scope of work. Wiggling the vertical rebar is referred to as "wet setting", our structural engineers get all bent out of shape when they see it happen especially on bolts and anchors. It has to do with displacing the aggregate around the embed not corrosion. Rather than using linseed oil or buying specific form release agent, you can use a 50/50 mix of diesel and used motor oil. Keep if off the rebar!!! Floated/trowelled finish was wholly unnecessary. Just screed it off and leave that rough surface so there is a solid bond when you pour the ICF walls on top of it. On our commercial jobs we'll follow up same day and pressure wash the "cream" off to expose aggregate or leave a raked finish to encourage that bond. Some project specs actually require a sandblast step before ICF or masonry starts. HINT: Anytime you have a concrete pour planned. Set up a few small areas where excess mud can be disposed then round up your order by a yard or so. A mud pad just outside the "cabin" or even forms for blocks like you used at the bottom of your driveway. Beats the hell out of running out and waiting for the batch plant to turn that last ready-mix truck around. Time is money!
It's not like you will run out of rock! Great work Jessie and Jessie's girl!
I just rebuilt my home from complete loss fire so know all your feelings! Good luck to you on your build!
Cool video, congratulations on what looked like an easy day following all of your hard prep work.
great job jesse, great attitude and work ethic. don't let it go to your head though, Alyssa is still my favorite😁
Congratulations on the successful pore, and to that fast learner Alisa, I was watching you float those forms and you were excellent.
Wow ... excited to see this day arrive. You guys rock!
Congrats guys!! All the prep paid off handsomely. Kudos.
