    In the late sixties I papered my bedroom with woodchip paper and painted one of the longer walls tangerine and the other three in mid green it was great for three or four years. Until I painted them all deep purple, including the ceiling... Love the vids...

    Looking good now you two as it all comes together. Think Joe your about 20 sockets short, hair driers, electric blanket, etc. etc. when on shoreline mains. Don't forget if your going shower, taps the wall end for waterproofing and maybe lower the bath, save all the domestic with water all over the place.

    The twin in the bedroom will be enough for our needs, there's always the possibility of adding more in the future. The boats being designed to be sustainable without connecting to shore power. Will be another 4 sockets in the living/kitchen area as well.

    Hi guys, its all starting to come together really well....May I point out suggest two points. One, Your bed with those holes in needs a bit more support. A couple of bits of two be one screwed across the frame thus giving four supports at the width. I feel with two of you on it, it may bow in time. Point Two...The bath needs support under it...say three wood blocks glued to the floor under the bath and tight fit each end and middle. A fibreglass bath cant really take a lot of standing or weight..Needs to rest on the floor or have some support to stop the gel coat crazing or the worse. Both a ten min job and may well save future grief....Looking great now, wont be long before you move in...

    The boat looks great. The fuel lines to the heater should be copper not the plastic ones you had in your heater kit and it needs clipping down. You can use your little rubber bends. Also there should be a shut off tap near the tank to isolate the fuel. When you come to get a safety cert on the boat the examiner will pick you up on this

  • @DanniandJoe

I can tell you from experience that whatever you do don't use that brand of paint in the bath area or on the ceiling or you will be sorry even the tongue and groove,masonry smooth paint is the be all and end all,mould resistant,waterproof,flexible,scrubable,you can throw your dinner up at it,get it in almost any colour and it's cheaper than all these paints that they say are durable but aint,condensation will never penetrate it and it's non yellowing with an eggshell satin finish.👍

    Great to see how fast it's coming together. As for the 4 ft bath and room for the shower - sitting down is the most practical way. The orange rather than green - great choice - warmer and blends with more too. Great progress! One thing you might need to consider is access to the washing machine hair/gunk trap door on the lower right. You'll need enough space to collect any remaining water in the trap, once you unscrew the access port, so ideally you need a foot or more of space to get a small square container under it. Are the stairs fixed or removable?

    Always thought a Japanese style bath would work well in those boats, they're really short but very deep, which would be ideal for the small space. In fact, I'd love to see how a Japanese designer would fit out one of these boats from scratch!

    I've enjoyed watching your narrowboat adventures, and would have done the ceiling in smaller sections, perpendicular to your approach, using mouldings at the top of the T&G walls to hold them in place. In particular, the rapport between you both is enchanting, though I still resort to closed captioning due to your southern accents (having thought all southerners spoke like Bristol's Cary Grant, I suppose). Truthfully, being natural speech, it's only to catch what's occassionally mumbled while problem solving on your feet. Also, the bloke who unsubscribed is probably single, or likely has a 'partner' instead of a wife. Neither one of you could be described as more 'bossy' than the other - your conversations are interlaced with humor that rarely finds fault with the other and is, much more often, self-reflexive in nature. That's a refreshingly sure sign of having spent seven years together with many more ahead. Happy Anniversary! Best Wishes from Orange County, California - 7.5 miles from Disneyland. Looking forward to your next posting.

    Hey, Guys, great job. Love your videos :) Re the waterpump, all the ones I have ever fitted can be mounted upside down which has the effect of putting the water flow on the other side. Hope this helps....keep up the good work.

    Coming along well!. For standing room in the tub, I would have cut a hole in the floor for the plumbing so the tub could be directly on the floor..... probably have to cut an access panel in the floor nearby to hook up the plumbing.. unless it is flexible (is that allowed?) It would be a pain to do, but worth it to reduce the back pain from standing half crouched in the shower methinks.

  • @DanniandJoe

    @DanniandJoe

    Yeah it's just compromise between height vs ease of access for when it leaks. We could probably chop the bath frame by 75mm without cutting the floor but it's going to be a pain when it inevitably leaks.

    Making really great progress! You must be pleased you're getting the walls and doors up, I can't wait until I can do the same! One idea though, I'm sure you've thought about it but the water pumps are quite noisy and under your bed might be disturbing if the washing machine is running when you want to go to bed or something. Have you thought about sound insulation or alternative positions for the pump? Nice work though and hope you have a great Christmas!

  • @DanniandJoe

    @DanniandJoe

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks so much! Yeah they’re not the quietest of things, we lived with one under our bed in the van and it wasn’t too bad, it’s compromise between ease of priming/working on the system vs the rare occasion someone wants water and the others sleeping. Will definitely look into sound insulation though that’s a good call.

    Please don’t take this as a criticism but I’ve never understood why anyone would want a bath onboard a narrowboat. A small bath like yours seems pointless (to me) because you can’t submerge yourself properly and it uses a hell of a lot of water and a full size bath well ... will probably empty a boats water tank. Having said that my shower is so small it’s like having a shower in an upright coffin 😂 I’m about to start tidying up my boat and was going to go with blues and greys but that orange looks fab and now I’m starting to think that maybe I should go brighter/happier. Tip: when drilling a hole with a spade .. as soon as the tip comes through the other side then stop and start drilling from that side, it’ll give you a cleaner finish.
