fabrics are great to thrift out this way, there's always bedsheets and curtains that give a lot of material to work with

omg I realise that my two dozen bolts of upholstery fabric taking up the spare room finally have a purpose- so much cheaper than going to the shops!!!!

I thought the spiked ends of the posts were gonna be used as castle turrets. This was inspiring and makes me wanna build something now.

i just still can’t get over how good of a name fuji is. it’s perfectly fitting and it also always reminds me of fuji apples which are one of my favorites!! she gives me apple vibes in a crisp and sweet way and i feel like it fits her perfectly especially because she looks like mount fuji :3 such a precious cutie, i love her

Cat towers are sooooo expensive, and, between my 3 cats, we're constantly having to deal with the generally sub-par materials being damaged and the jute perpetually falling off. I'm definitely going to look into making my own now, so thank you for the inspiration, Peej, Fooj, and LEGO! (It will also stop me cringing every time I the five towers not having any cohesive colour scheme and being paranoid about how they're one point off my chonk of a rogue knocking them over...)

thanks for the idea and tutorial, PJ! my indoor, technically ‘senior’ cats (they don’t seem much older than when i first adopted them, but they fit the age group at age 9 & 13, but are both very healthy due to the health food & such we give them as well as being mentally healthy and happy, stress-free, and lively/alert-active and exceptionally good at grooming despite the older boi having very luscious long, thick fur) would absolutely love this! my dad built two scratching posts a while ago that are large ~182 cm high thick wooden posts with sisal rope tightly wrapped round & attached to them and are in the middle through two large, square, flat boards (sorry, i don’t know building & carpentry and don’t know the precise terms…), one slightly off the bottom and one about 45 cm above it, both covered in soft carpet that they can lounge upon or scratch as well; they love lying on the carpeted portion and regularly scratching the posts - i’ve had no issues with them scratching anything else like furniture since they were added to the home - and occasionally climbing up them like a tree trunk and positioning their lil mittens in a way so they can perch atop it hehe and i love diy cat trees and things like them!! my cats would love this, and despite one of them being a fairly old yet still very active and healthy boi, i want to give them the best for as long as they live because cats are the best creatures ever and deserve to be relentlessly pampered >:3. thank you for the inspiration, PJ!! i’ve been watching your content since around 2014/15 and it’s been constant top quality all the way through! i’m so happy you’re still making such cool videos and hope you continue to do so if that coincides the right way with your life :) thank you for always being a ray of sunshine on the internet!

If you want an easy way to round the corner more with only a straight saw you can cut little diagonals across the corners and then do that again, then sand to make round!

hey pj!! amazing work! love the fuji inspired theme. personal experience of making a cat tower -- you might need to get the rope all to the bottom because the cat's weight will start to drag it down over time, even with the strong glue, and if the rope's not down at the bottom i'm tempted to say it might fall off. ours was down to the bottom completely and overtime the cat used it so much that it was gapping at the top as he kept dragging it downwards, but it never fell off because the bottom was supported

about cats who dont like super soft fabrics, my family's first cat hated everything with a pile, including the sheepskin pelt my parents had and that i often was rolling around on as a baby. i think it felt weird under the paws and therefore it was just a no-likey, and because they kinda need to walk or stand on the thing to lie down or get up from a thing, it doesnt matter if it is soft to sleep on if it also feels weird on the toe beans. so the one time our cat did sit on the pelt, it was pretty clear to my parents that he wanted some attention after all the attention the baby (me) had gotten 😅
