Those blocks weren't designed to lay with the holes horizontal. they should be vertical.

When your nails are too small (heads sliding through the holes) just hammer the nail straight through the brace itself. The nail will pierce and hold the bracket better.

When i worked with tongue and groove lumber, i nailed in the tongue so that the nails are invisible to the finished wall--or in this case, the floor. The walls and ceilings are all tongue and groove in my home. I did the walls myself but needed help with the ceilings.

Why did you use the black on the floor just curious looks like your off to a great stsrt installation looks good And it will help keep the cabin warmer.Loved watching Mary in Alabama!😊

I recommend putting floor joists at 16 inches on center to prevent your floor from sagging! Not trying to disrespect, but mostly constructive criticism. At minimum, I would do 24 inches on center.

That's not paint. It's Boritex waterproofing and sealing stain. That black color is only one of 12 color options. It's meant for outdoor wood projects.

You can use cement pads for a small cabin, but I would have definitely pounded the soil down instead of just placing blocks on top of it.
