Hey! I'm not a bricklayer, in fact I'm at uni studying psychology and philosophy, but I really love your videos. They're super interesting, artful (I believe good bricklaying, like yours, is truly art) and a great personal insight into what life is like on-site. Very best of luck at the super trowel competition!!

    1. Six course high corner to each front pillar, six course corner to each back corners...(Pick level up once each corner). 2. Tail out (extend) the corners to a line on the gables, just enuff to enable all four corners to be finished to scaffold height. 3. Run the back six courses in, stay on back, pop another couple of six course corners to the back and run in. 4. Six course corner to each front pillar, Tail out (extend corners along gables to a line) 5. Repeat til done. (Obviously final job is to crash in the gables) N.B the level is in the hand hardly at all = more laying.

Freehand you should hardly ever at all need to build more than a six course corner. After a while a corner this size is usually plumb. As you know BIG corners drift out of line and can take some tw4tting back😮

After levelling and plumbing then scrap off the excess mortar Get Tom to honey comb the bricks so you can pick them up easily it’s worth a try . Great video Charlie take care and congratulations to you and Amy . All the best .

Hi, been watching your videos for ages, really interesting! I’ve always had 1 question, which might seem a bit daft given that it’s obviously NOT a problem… but when you lay loads of courses in 1 go, does the weight not start to squeeze the cement out of the courses towards the bottom? Or has the cement started to go off enough? 😬
