On his Instagram, I believe, he says he represents Mexico in competition. Other than that, Mexico has no real male presence in elite bodybuilding and Strongman (that I know of). No Mr. Olympia competitors, no other Strongman competitors either, no elite powerlifters. He's US, MX, Latino Texan. lol - decent mix there.

I feel like if Brian effectively builds a deadlift which is halfway between his normal deadlift and the deadlift he does in the second half of the vid... that'd be a scary strong deadlift!! I've always thought Brian's had the strength for a 500kg deadlift, but maybe not the technical proficiency for it.. Until now!! His coach is killing it 💪💪
@ethanh6849

Hes always had it in him, i dont think weve ever seen Brian gut out a max deadlift. Which is smart on his part, high risk lift, he typically just does whats necessary to win or gain appropriate points for the event. Justifying the point made by many commentators that hes not just a strong brute, Brians a thinker and assesses every event/lift. If he wanted the deadlift world title, i dont think many would question his ability to hit it

I was doing a back day last night. Have y'all considered doing a halting deadlift? That's essentially where the bar comes to just above the knee, and back down.
I like Gabe. He's got a great future ahead of him. It don't hurt a thing, training with B Shaw. Hopefully 5X WSM this year.
