I normally can't stand filler words, but the amount of info and wisdom this guy packs into non-filler words still balances out way above average. Its almost too much, I keep getting the urge to take notes.
Do you ever show the actual build of the engines? Would love to see this one being built.

All motor Honda, I've always felt that's the proper build for these! And Mike, thank you thank you thank you! This is above and beyond!
I could spend the rest of my life asking you engine questions. As someone who enjoys understanding engineering and WHY things work or fail, learned so much in a short time. You're top notch!

Crazy thing i remember reading a story about a older honda engine pre k24 blow up someone did achieve a 10k rpm block. I think it was probably 18 years ago a lot went into making it turn 10k.
6 speeds transmission building and I like that all around type engines are available for normal drives also . I have a 2008 si and it was a 1 owner never smoked in and no wrecks currently restoring and going through what need repairs but a fast take off

Love that car. I have an 08 350z and i bought it from dealership he bought it originally due to him needing a truck for family..one owner, all stock, never smoked in, low mileage, 6mt enthusiast pkg. my friend had the 08 si but he doesnt take care of anything he owns. I am the complete opposite
I could go to sleep listening to Mike's voice...he should do audiobooks.
That dry sump looks awesome. I'd been wondering why no one had made a dry sump system that ran off of the factory oil pump drive.
Give the people what they want! More Mike!!!
Great video as always Mike! Can’t wait to see how this motor performs.
Would love if you guys did project /customer car building videos! Chronicling developing a kit for sale to put one of these in the back of a 996 track toy would be pretty epic!
Mr. Mike , you make me want to be a machinist. I honestly get just as excited about all of this the same as you! Thank you for the transparency and knowledge. Cool shit 🤙🏼

Now that we have K-series maybe a B-series. It is kind of the inferior engine but it would be cool to see what can be done with 'old-school' engines.

Love the k series and considering getting a type r just because of your videos. I’d really like more videos on different engines, for Honda I’d really like to see an h series or b series video. I’d also love to see some bmw motors! M20, s52,s54 are all great motors with a lot of aftermarket support that’s hard to weed through or assemble into anything competitive without digging into 10-15 year old forums
This man is a national treasure!

Wow! I just love the info you spitting like facts
I think a lot of viewers would be interested in a Honda D or B series video, I know they’re old, and from what I’ve seen most of your content is built from customer vehicles. But I believe both engines are still relevant in today’s Honda society. So I don’t think I’m alone in my interest on this topic. It would be interesting to see the perspective of a master(s) in either boosted or N/A applications of either of these engines especially since many are experimental or home built.

A thicker heavier pin will try to blow out the small bore of the rod on the upward stroke. Bloodviking, master engine builder
@motoiq
3 ай бұрын
I don't agree, and neither do the engineers at the top piston makers. The pin weight is way less and puts way less inertial stress on the rod compared to the piston on the upstroke and the cylinder pressure on the powerstroke. The load on the upstroke is also somewhat cushioned by the compression of the fuel air mix and the exhaust pressure. Thin pins are early 90's thinking and they flex and grab and spin the bushing out of the small end of the rod. The flex also stresses the pin boss of the piston. I have seen this happen many times and it also shows on FEA of the piston. It is the reason why the once popular, lightweight, thin, short and taper wall pins are no longer in fashion. Me, Motorsports Engineer.
This video was very informative.
So much to learn!
Thank you 🙏 Mike !!! Honda The power of dreams !!! 😜👍🇦🇺

4:35 the piston hanging around tdc longer, both ways. Get the timing on the tune correct.

Arp bolts and Darrel cox timing kit with kevlar timing belt with summit racing oil filter cooler. 6 pass empi oil cooler . Bigger 8 pass transmission cooler away from the radiator LSD. Sonnax and Transgo shift kits. Hi energy Borg Warner frictions raybestos steels.. bigger holes in my accumulator pistons.. wider 245 40 18 tires and wheels.. on 99 octane 3" exhaust no cat. Freddy muffler solid mounts enlarged transmission mount bolts to 19 mm from 15..
thanks Mike
Body centered cubic to face centered cubic. Dude knows his stuff.
Nice 20K combo :)
I'm guessing those anti detonation grooves also assist in heat dissipation by increasing the surface area between the crown and the first compression ring groove; somewhat like the base of a "turbopot"; can't wait to hear this engine when it's delivered. Those 62mm ITBs are going to add a lovely howl!
@motoiq
4 ай бұрын
No they don't do that, they basically prevent smearing of the first ring land due to heat and protect the #1 ring somewhat.
Mike I love the content
I see Mike. I click.
From what i read, Dodson cryo-treats their transmission components. And their components are used to upgrade Audi R8 and Nissan GTR transmissions to handle 2000+ hp.
