Just visited their site and they have a lot of cool stuff. The DMR Tier II and LoRa modules are definitely worth a look. There's also some 70cm/2m full-duplex modules ; ) Managed to order a pair of SA-828's for just 32 quid from China, shipped! For only 17 quid each I'm a very happy bunny and I won't even have to sleep on the couch. Oh, and I notice that they can be connected to an MCU and operated via the bus, so ideal for really low power Arduino or PIC-Chip projects. Seriously, what's not to like? Previously, I was butchering Baofeng UV-5R's for all my projects. Although, I think I may keep up the old 'butchering UV-5R's thing... y'know... as a public service :D

This is awesome! Probably the least expansive way to make an allstar node ? Crazy we don't see more people doing this.. I'd love to do this project one day.. but it's a little over my skill level.. perhaps in the future when there's more documentation/tutorials..

Good one, Ive used the modules many times with out the PCB option but didnt use the transformers I did put a filter on them as you say theycan be a bit noisey. BTW you can use the PI IO as an example rather than the onboard CPU on that PCB you board and progarmming it via AT commands is prity easy then you can do your custom per channel mods from there rather than the PC/S/W

good video, thanks. it seems like they are selling us the guts of baofengs? it would have been better for nice RF to be able to set the mode, like USB, LSB,AM,FM ect, so that it could be used with WSJT and other such modes.

It is a shame you didn't have the opportunity to test this to see what the harmonic emissions were like. Also, you mentioned a bridge dongle, is it the Interface USB bridge board? where is this obtained from because it's not on the Ali-express link? It all depends on the application you’re using. For all star you also need a COS line which tells the application if the radio is receiving a signal. I don’t think allstar supports the inbuilt sound card.
