My Son watched this video for 3 days straight (6 yrs old) and led me to Home Depot and Ave Hardware to snag up all the pieces - we kept it at about $40 and have leftover materials ! So that’s awesome , we built it in about 3 hours to make and he is in HIS GLORY !! Super cool !! Thanx so much !
i have a feeling this is going to be my new favorite show

I'm making more DIY Props over on my channel, go check it out!
I’m gonna make one now. I totally need this in my room since it’s filled with nerdy/pop culture stuff :D
Cover it with black shoepolish, wipe it off and it'll look awesome

Gavin Wilkins shoepolish will give it a darker metal shine/look, but yeah, you're gonna have black smudges on the edges where you can't really wipe it off

It would've helped the look. But I'd be scared as hell to touch it after it turned out so good.

This was seriously awesome. I might have to try this on my next day off. But every time someone sais something is $30 it ends up being closer to $75.
@DustFilmsOriginals

I promise I spent $30! And half of that was just for that stand, no joke, so really you could spend less. :)

I decided not to count stuff I already have especially tools since I figure anyone who tries to make this already had some DIY experience. But spray paint is usually around $3 and I think that glue gun was $10 :)
@satibel
9 жыл бұрын
Dustin McLean Saimeren the glue itself is 10-15$/ kg too, so no big deal, good spray paint is 5-7$ though, but you probably won't use the whole can. and most of the stuff used here, you can get used, or you may have it around (dowels, bottles, nuts etc...) I think this can be done for under 10$ if you have the tools and scrap laying around.
@VampireAvianhybrid1

Alex The Kaiser you probably shouldn't use glue sticks that are that old though. they cant hold as well, and may clog up your glue gun.

I had a classmate that made a portal gun. Out of paper. He took a 3D model, imported into AutoCAD, and used a program that converted it into papercraft. It was a lot of work, took weeks, but it was totally worth it.

I really enjoy watching the prop builds. I probably won't ever do one myself, but they are fun to watch. I must say that the terminator arm looks awesome. You did a really good job. Thanks for sharing
If only he continued making awesome props. This channel especially dustin himself is a big reason I'm into prop making now

@TheSUPERPOTATO2000
9 жыл бұрын
KZread didn't "buy" them. Erik never owned Indy Mogul in the first place. He made the pilot for NextNewNetworks and then they funded it as a show. Think of it more as a TV show than anything. When the network isn't getting as much out of a show as they want to, they cancel it. Although Backyard FX ended way before the channel itself was ended.
DUSTIN!!!! I'VE MISSED YOU! Ben is great at Homemade Movies, and a good replacement, but I hope you know that we didn't forget you. Cheers!

Thanks for inspiring me. I built my own for around $10 bucks. Instead of using washers, I used PVC caps. For $7 dollars more, I built a case.. Under $20 for everything. Keep in mind, I had most of the stuff. PVC Pipe, Washers, Hot glue gun, Misc wire, Wood. Most important, A creative mind.

If you take a dark brown stain and thin it with mineral spirits you can "wash" paint it onto the metal areas. then after its dry spray silver onto a rag to "Dry brush" back up to silver on the raised area of the steel. this will give the metal more of a grimy oily look.
Whoever shoots the video and puts it all together. Great job!

Good Idea
You're a cool guy
Looks so nice and screen accurate when it's done
Brilliant fair play, to add some finishing touches to it though, get some black and white acrylic paints and go over it with a sponge, mix different shades of grey and stuff, give it a real dark metallic look.
Make one or both of the Daft Punk helmets.
Neat show! Bane mask?
Wow, super ingenious! Love the videos, and Dustin you lseem like a super cool guy to hang and build stuff with :)
"don't touch his hand he'll shatter" that was quite funny
Could you do the Men In Black Neuralyzer please?
Great job! Definitely looking forward to more of this series and really cool frugal ways to build some replicas. :D Keep up the good work and ignore all the Man at Arms whiny children. I love swords and metal badass weapons just as much as the next person but its also nice to know that you dont need a expensive workshop and materials to make some really neat things from your favorite movies,game, comics and so on. :D

Looks really good. The only thing I would've tried to do different is the shape of the forearm. All of the rods stood straight up, making the shape more cylindrical. It should be more conical, starting wide at the elbow and gradually becoming thinner towards the wrist. But that's just a nitpick.
This is awesome, thank you movie fights podcast.
