Build your own Interactive KITT from Knight Rider - Part 1 Hardware

In this video series, we will see what is necessary to build your very own KITT from Knight Rider! In Part 1, we'll discuss hardware. Later on, I'll release videos on programming and 3D printing to complete the project. I hope you enjoy this video!

    Fantastic Job, I just started learning how to code the Raspberry Pi Pico and have begun a few projects myself. Nothing on the level of this though, once again great job.

    Nice work, I can imagine in the future using voice cloning TTS and AI like GTP-3 for a conversation you will actually be able to talk to KITT and have a proper conversation!

    @@RaspiPicoNoob I have started taking on this exact project and came here when outlining some final steps for a final touch, The ingredients are all put together now but the required computing power remains to be seen.

    I'm going to do an fork of this and use an LCD instead so we can have all voice boxes! I've seen this done!

    I would love to do this project, but use an external mic for an actor's voice to drive the audio. Can you point me in the right direction for that? Really cool project!

    tell me you've done a clone voice over of W.D. and an API software interface to chatGPT4?

    Actually this is an open source project so you're able to build it. I'm providing the layout at no cost.

    Hello do you do any commissions? I made a website where you can speak to kitt realtime (its actually some cleaned up samples responding to preprogrammed voicecommands) Is it possible to make something similar with this unit you made? I would gladly share the website with you and maybe you can help me? Thanks in advance.

    It's possible. Basically you just need modify the design to include an audio input and remove the microcontroller. You'll be turning KITT into a VU meter.

    I've been looking to starting a kitt project as well, how hard would it be to have it recognize phrases and/or connect it to a google home?

  • @RaspiPicoNoob

    Probably not hard at all. You'd have to use a single board computer like a Raspberry Pi zero 2 for it to work. There's already examples on how to build one online. You could assign various KITT phrases to respond to your commands.

    Is the STL for the faceplate missing? I see the spacers and the backside box but not the faceplate.

  • @RaspiPicoNoob

    @RaspiPicoNoob

    Yes the faceplate has been left out because I did not design it and bought the STL from the designer here 3dexport.com/3dmodel-inspired-knight-rider-voice-box-kitt-easy-to-make-backlight-345143.htm There is one modification that needs to be made to it in order to accommodate the IR sensor. I'll have more details about it in an upcoming video.
