Build this Pedestal using only MDF?! ~ DIY Woodworking
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Here I show you how I made a pedestal stand for a small art sculpture using MDF 👇 Links to tools/materials below👇
TOOLS/EQUIPMENT
If you are interested in the tools and equipment I use in this video you can find all the information you need here: 👉 kit.co/mikeparsonscc 👈
It is a box construction with oversized top and base, finished off with scotia trim and painted in a modern white satin finish.
It is made out of easy to find and affordable MDF with some pine trim added.

FYI I have done an Instagram post which shows what this looks like after 6 months outside! You can see it here: instagram.com/p/B6vf_ligAov/ Spoiler: It is perfectly fine 😊 If you like my videos and want to help support me please consider subscribing, it would really help me out 👍😊 Thanks!
I hope that’s going inside!!
Wondering how the MDF pedestal is holding up outdoors? I imagine painting it with outdoor paint would extend its life.

It's doing surprisingly well! It has some dirt and stains but still solid as a rock 👍I expected it to have exploded by now so pretty happy. There is a link in the pinned comment on this video to a post on my Instagram that shows what it looks like now 👍
Genius ideas!
It looks awesome. Great inspiration!
Amazing job. What is the thickness of the MDF?
Nice made
Do you know if it could be coated with cement ?
Where are you located, can you make me one without the trim out of plywood
I don't see how this will be waterproof for outside?
Loved it for how much
Of all those tools, I may have the paint roller.

No idea I never stress tested it. It's basically solid MDF though - so a lot!
being made of MDF i don't think you can keep this pedestal out side ? good project that most people could do, well done. thankyou

Agreed, MDF should not be outside as a rule (although you can get exterior grade MDF it is very expensive!) I am leaving this one outside to get some data on what happens and how long it takes. So I can be more informed as a woodworker moving forwards. So far it has not started to swell or split and it's been a few months - winter is coming though! We will see...

@@mikeparsonscc interesting, i made an outside waterfall from polystyrene (foam sheets) and carved it to look like rocks, then painted it with bathroom waterproofing sealer with different colored oxides to make it look like stone, that could be an option, but will push up the cost. the pedestal could be made from the foam as well. thanks.

@@jbclayville I do! Follow the link in the pinned comment on this video to see what winter did to it. It's almost summer now too so will be fine for at least another 6 months 👌
Jenny.🙅🤦🙆💁🏽♂️🙇💆💇🙍🙋🤷.
There is no measurement given, so if one has to make than its a complete disaster 😩

The measurements depend on exactly what you need! 😬 Use this as inspiration and come up with your own dimensions 👌 (also it is 18mm thick boards if that helps)
