People always told me that German modelers were the best of the best. They were right! I LOVE this airplane, and the level of excellence and craftsmanship you put into this is second to none. I'm sure you'll figure out the gain and PID settings soon enough... just watch out for nasty shear! Send up a little foamy first as the scout. The quad will compensate so fast it will mask the problem. Maybe geofence it for ~9m altitude?

I wonder if each of the flow indicators (threads) could transmit data to the flight computer in a plane to warn about stalling conditions in real time.

I think instead of threads you could use some sort of small tube like a Pitot tube that would transmit different pressure readings back to a micro controller that could compare readings and extrapolate when a stall condition was approaching not sure if the system could be made small and sensitive enough for use in an RC that size but it would be a neat concept

Surely this would work better with non swept wings as more of the airflow stays as chord wise flow and less is converted into spanwise - hence if there were no sweep angle it would be easier to fly slower? Also are there any negative effects to the performance with these on during higher aoa manuevers as they would likely produce more drag?

High alpha (AOA) maneuvers are typically used in close combat situations, and can benefit from increased drag in a couple of ways: 1: The aircraft slows down more before completely changing direction, spreading the delta-v over a larger portion of the maneuver, decreasing the peak g load on the pilot. 2. This also allows the aircraft to be capable of an even tighter turning radius, which in addition to thrust vectoring nozzles, increases this ability even further. Often in combat, the more maneuverable plane is the winner. Advanced electronics can only compensate so much. The main reason you don't see forward swept wings much, if at all anymore, is that a trapezoidal wing (if properly designed) can have as good of alpha drag as a forward swept planform, without the potentially fatal flaws and quirks they can (though not if designed correctly) exhibit. You have to admit, the SU-47 looks sick, though!
