In your opinion, would 12” nipples still work - raising the bed for my 6’6” husband to sit on a little easier or would it be too “wobbly”?

@@LandtoHouse what if I wanted to build it in 2 sections? And then lash the 2 sections together at final assembly. Each section being roughly 38 by 80...
Thank you for this video. I built one almost like it. Only thing different was the legs. I used the left over wood from the cuts that were made. Just finished it. I also had the box spring for it. But for future this can be used for a mattress only, if I decide to get a new mattress. Great video. Thank you.
Thanks for this tutorial! I made this today and it is so much better than the cheaply made metal frame we used to have. The instructions were really easy to follow too, thanks again!
Nice build and you did it all without a 20k woodwork shop!

Thanks for the great video. I made my bed frame following your video. It came out great and is very sturdy. I ordered the metal parts from Amazon and ended up going with 3 legs on each side and 4 down the middle for extra support
Thank you for your awesome video! Me and my husband are almost finished 😍 and it looks great! We spent $180 at home depot but got a few extra 1x6s and 1x8s for a skirt and lip. We also used 4x4s for the legs instead of the piping since that was easier for us to find. Used some old carpet to fasten under the 4x4s to prevent the legs from scratching up our hardwood flooring. Hoping to finish staining it tomorrow!

Thank you for watching! My wife and I have this king size frame in out house and we love it. Are your 4x4's treated or untreated? I have heard that it is not a good idea to keep treated lumber inside because it will off gas. Sandwiching 2 2x4's together is a better option.... The carpet idea is a good one.

Great video. I just made this frame with a couple modifications. I used 2x2s along the side rails and cut the slats at 73.25"s. I wanted more of a zero edge for side skirts. Also picked up a 6ft piece of 1/2" pipe insulation with adhesive. 9 8" pieces of that to wrap the pipe nipples to protect the toes just incase;). Thanks for the inspiration mate

I'm definitely no expert, but I do watch a lot of these woodsmith and woodworking shows and it seems like that jointing or dovetailing wood makes a great joint of wood and very strong. Great! I hope you enjoy the frame.
Along with other viewers, I concur that this homemade structure has a heap of potential! I would probably paint the metal hardware in advance, and instead of rounding the edges, you could use moulding to create better edges and finish to the frame. Then, of course, some stain or paint, or even chalk or milk paint could give this a nice finish that appears store bought. Plus, creating a wall design behind the head of the bed could offer a headboard without having to attach it to the frame. So many ideas!!!! Anyhow, I am soooooo glad I stumbled upon this video - AWESOME idea!!! Thank you so very much for adding the additional measurements for varied size mattresses as well. Fantastic!!! I am going to subscribe to your channel :)

Thank you for this incredible idea! My Cocker Spaniel recently hurt his back jumping off the tall bed I had. Well I got rid of that entire bedroom set right away! He healed up, re-injured a bit and now is almost 100% again. He sleeps on the bed though, so I've been searching for a very low bed that he won't be in danger getting on and off. All the beds I've found on Wayfair, Ikea or anywhere that are low enough, are super expensive!! But if I use your frame, with 2" legs instead of the 8" then the bed will be super low but still off the floor! Perfect! It'll have that Asian inspired low look that I want, mixed with an urban feel and safe for my Sam. Thanks so much, this will really change our lives!

I can't explain how easy it was to make this bed. I followed all his steps and it took me and my 54 year old mother 8 hours from buying materials to the last screw. I had no issue understanding any of the request but it does take ALL 15 boards for the slats. It looks phenomenal! I did change the legs to 1/2" x 12" instead of the 8" because I wanted more room under my bed and it's still a super great bed. This bed isn't going anywhere! So I love with this

This is a superb wood working book I`ve ever read, *TopFineWoodworking. Com* . Both novice and some skilled woodworker can gain a lot of general info using this reading material. I`ve been very amazed how frequently I use this to look up woods at places like to restore and salvage spots.?

@LandtoHouse

The frame is holding up very well. The headboard could use a little more screws than I use but it is only noticeable when a 2 year old swings on it.
We love this bed and are planning to build it. Do you have any recommendations for something to protect hardwood floors from the metal flanges? I was considering hot gluing cork drink coasters on the them, then adding rings of glue on the other side to prevent slipping. Maybe even a yoga mat cut into strips?
@LandtoHouse
7 жыл бұрын
Those are great ideas for protection. I have seen carpet bottom plastic coasters at lowes that are large enough to fit the floor flange. But any of the diy versions should do well.
Nice job. Very simple making of a bed. Are you planning on screwing the feet into the floor? Even some rubber under the feet might do good so that the bed don't move if there should be...to much activity in the bed... :-) It would also be a nice bed to put drawers under :-)
