Cheers Doc! Quick question.. I heard about the fact that nepotism plays a great role when it comes to pursuing advanced training in a certain specialty in Australia e.g. cardiology, and that it's preserved to the Aus graduates. Is that true to some extent?

That’s a really good question. I don’t know actually. Anyone else here on this channel know about this? (Let’s see what people write)

As someone that moved from South Africa to live in the UK, I constantly tell them how backwards the NHS is. This obviously is met with much resistance as why would I say something like that about "The greatest health care system in the world"

Hi My son is in the process of choosing his future field of study and consequently career opportunities after graduation. He is in year 10 high-school in Australia. He wants to know if he can work with sports team as a GP? As he doesn’t like to sit in the clinic and visits patients whole day. He likes to study medicine and at the same time he is very into searching about sports injuries( may be because if his age as a teenager who recently started going to the gym as well). He needs help to decide what to study in the uni. He is a smart boy with grade A in all his subjects. We were investigating about studying a physio therapy But annual income for a physiotherapist is very very average(like $80,000 per year)

Thanks for getting in touch. GP is a great career and I have a few colleagues that have qualified as GPs and now only do sports medicine and they absolutely love it. Best of luck! :)
