You are doing it wrong, no offence. Use the actor specialist in your town hall. If you have a theater, she grants canned food, and rum. You can skip canned food, and build it later when you have a better specialist for it. Canned food is an economic loss. If you lack money, then you should make way to much soap, and sell the extra at the prison, and then buy the actor. Also, dont need harbor guns for a long time. Keep your Influence points for getting lots of islands. I am 80 hours into my save and finally went to war. Please lookup specialists so you dont mislead newer players about how to play this. Your cities look prettier than mine :( You have a better eye for beauty than me.

There are many ways to play games like this. I prefer to actually produce the products rather than use the specialists.

I did that at first, but eventually efficiency becomes important as you get bigger. Now I have islands making 50,000,000 an hour with less than 30 buildings because of specialists.
