Yeah. You just have to modify the entire car. This is a bullshit land record. The car was rebuilt. Wing was removed. Car is 25 cm longer to provide less drag and the bodykit was improved to provide less drag. Weight was removed from the car as well. Passenger seat was removed. This is not a production car. According to bugatti its a pre-prod. Might have different gearing.

@nobodyx2 I don't think that's true. Like in your Wikipedia Link, the two 380/381 Signs are just advisory speed limits. You are able to drive over this speed, but they just don't suggest ist. We don't really need such signs anyway, because 130 is the speed we know as the widely advised speed limits.

You're right .304 mph is more that 490 kph. Take 304 times it by 1.67 ( 1.67 km in a mile). They got 490 because they times it by 1.6 instead of 1.67 . It's 1.667 and a few other numbers is what it actually is.

400 kph is 240 mph . 90 kph is only 54 mph. 490 kph is 294 /mph. To get to 304 mph you will need about 107 kph instead of 90. Take 507 times it by 0.6( 0.6 is how many miles there is in a km)

It actually seems to be pretty quiet in the interior. At 300 mph. I mean it really is relatively quiet considering the speeds being achieved here. Gives you an idea of what Bugatti is really about: all out performance and luxury integrated into one incredible package.

You don't need a next. They modified the entire car. No wing, elongated tail. Stripped of weight. New bodykit. No passenger seat. This is not a production car. It's a pre-prod. Until it hits production they can't claim shit.

I guess that 0-500 km/h speedometer wasn't a bluff

The Chrion did not run both directions. They decided not to do that because this track is usually driven in the direction we see in the video. Because noone really went the other way, the technicians were afraid that because of the "brushing" countless cars did on the tarmac, it could mean a lot more stress to the tyres going the other way.

The most impressive thing is that it’s so stable and relatively quite inside.... not falling apart with the strain.

This is the only time in my life I find it relevant to watch a “top gear” video after the boys left

Is this ACTUALLY a Chiron tho?? Looks like a Chiron/Divo hybrid, the front end looks like a Divo but missing the rear fixed wing. Or did a miss some special edition Chiron, it's not quite a Divo & not a stock Chiron either. So did they legit hit 300 if it's not a production car anyone can buy?

What a journey for Bugatti. Back in the early 2000s when 250+ was almost unreachable, to now, breaking the 300+ barrier on the same bit of test track

I've never even been a fan of Bugatti, but this is crazy intense to watch. I get pumped up watching it climb those last 10-14mph.

W Lee not that drastic, but, if you were going through average speed cameras, They wouldn’t be able to take the second picture. I did the maths and if you do 210mph it works

I cant get over how peacefully quiet it is in that car.......amazing.

Good job on the soundtrack at the end, sounds almost ominous, something that fits well with the idea of pushing the boundaries of what's possible at this point in time for us.

Next goal is 500km/h. 490 km/h just doesnt sound as good.

@@matzepizzaheld8541 it's still a production spec vehicle that will be launched. For starters the electronic limiter had been taken off. They might be used lighter rims. But it easily comes under 'stock'. Found out that the engine as tuned up to 1600 hp and added safety cell. However it is confirmed to be released as a limited spec edition. Without the slight modifications it could've reached 270-275 mph.

Well, it isnt official yet. Im hoping this turns out to be a Chiron Super Sport or something like that, and they do an official run, being the first ever stock production car to hit it. Very, very promising though. I was totally not expecting any of this.

my friend your math is kinda wierd the 408.47 km/h was done on april 19 of 2005 . The new, one way run was made in august 2... 2019... meaning 14 years 3 months and 11 days later... not less then 10 years .. plus the bugatti that you see there is not the normal chiron, it's not even the divo it is the next step.

It was because they ran out of straight. The tires themselves are only rated for 521km/h, but they did carefully choose the tires (using X-ray) to put together the perfect set of tires for this run (meaning they looked for tires in michelins stock that had no imperfections and picked those).

The Chiron SS 300 can actually do 55-60 miles at this speed before the fuel runs out. The tires were good, in fact Michelin tested them past 515-520 kph and they were well within limits. Michelin actually put an extra layer of Carbon Fibre weave in the fabric, except for that that it's actually a standard Cup2 and can be bought stock in the near future. Pretty amazing how far they've come since the Veyron huh?

That's almost as fast as my mate leaving the pub when avoiding his round

The math is a bit iffy, but it comes out to about 6-7 minute drive to a completely empty fuel tank, from full going at that speed.

Andy Wallace mentioned about the jump at 0:28 around 276 mph(447.7 km/h) due to the difference of road surface from new to old. That crucial info is very important displaying new variables manufacturers never thought before.
