Jackie Gleason Died on my moms birthday in 1987. That was also my high school graduation year. I came today to see this reel. A line I pulled from Gleason years ago that I just said the other day was "I've got 'em boxed in like a turtles pecker" which is not in this reel, but that's OK. This man was the epitome of funny, and actually a very good actor. I miss him. All the greats are dead as far as I'm concerned.

@@Mark-sj3xb Adam Sandler is a pathetic excuse of an actor most of his movies are disappointments including that crappy remake of The Longest Yard ironically Burt Reynolds was in both the 1974 original The Longest Yard and the 2005 remake The Longest Yard (1974) is actually worth watching but the 2005 remake with Adam Sandler was a spit in the face towards the original they obviously made a big mistake when they chose Adam Sandler as the lead character in the 2005 remake of The Longest Yard an obvious miscast they're some movies out there that aren't necessary for a remake the only reason why they make remakes it's cuz they're in it for the money

Jackie Gleason is a legendary I don’t think no one can’t act and speak like Jackie Gleason.

Burt said that he used to host parties when he was with Dinah Shore and Hollywood royalty used to come, including Gleason. Gleason would do the "southern Sheriff" impersonation that Burt loved. Burt's father was a policeman in Riviera Beach, FL so he must of liked it remembered it for the Smokey films.

This is one of the best of Gleason for sure

This scene and this role put Jackie Gleason back on the map, and to a whole new generation of movie goers.

. I love the fact that the Good Sheriff truley, utterly and completely hates his own son... It took me years to realize that the whole purpose of the sheriff chasing the bandit 700 miles was to reunite his son with the broad who walked out on him leaving the son to live out his days with the father who can't stand him 😆😆😆😆 .

I watch this video all the time. Lot's of great comedic characters in movies past and present. I'm 63 and Jackie Gleason's portrayal of Buford T. Justice has them all beat hand's down, even Bill Murray in Caddie Shack.

Buford T Justice: Along with Shooter McGavin is the most underrated movie villain of all time. Period.

The really interesting thing is Coors wasn’t nationally distributed up until 1986, so it was illegal to sell East of the Mississippi!

He improvised some including the choke and puke scene which was his idea. They did give him free rein to ad lib as he saw fit.

He made the simple act of getting out of a car HILARIOUS!! My God his facial expressions are PRICELESS!!!!

Me and my grandfather would watch this almost daily. I love this movie so much

One of the very few times is movie history the perfect actor met the perfect role. His "The goddamned Germans got nothing to do with it!" solidified it as cinematic comedic gold.

A. I'm gone barbecue your ass in molasses!!! The best line of the whole movie. That line makes me laugh every time I hear it. B. Mr. Jackie Gleason (R.I.P.) was the star of this movie. C. Smokey and The Bandit is one of the greatest movies of all time. D. They don't make movies like this anymore.

Thank you. Such comedy will never be around like these comedians could deliver. 2000 and years to come will never be funny on screen.
