We are using 24 of these mics at our church. 8 handhelds and 16 body packs. Super clear and reliable signal and sound. Not to mention you can also buy different heads for them. In the app you can run 16 units only. So we use 2 tablets to monitor mics and battery levels. Thing you didn't mention about the mute button on the mic, is that you are able to lock that feature so the mic stays on no matter what position the person turns the switch. Used that a few times to save the awkward moment. Super happy with these mics! Great video.

Wow! Glory to God. Am really impressed and exited for your church Sir/ Madam. Came here looking for a good microphone for our pastor. We have 6 microphones, the most expensive is about USD 20. Searching for a USD 40-50 microphone (what’s affordable for us… yet to buy other instruments). I just can’t phantom a church having 24 microphones each costing over usd 500 it’s just glorious glorious glorious.

We use 12 of these systems in our church (2 headset/body and 10 handhelds) with 3 combiners and 2 paddle antennas. We're very happy with them. We bought the re-chargable batteries that work with these and are very happy with them as well. It's important to note that these are NOT EW-D1 systems (which is a discontinued model number that we also have owned) but simply EW-D. The older EW-D1 series used the 2.4Ghz (Wi-Fi) range, only supported about 8 systems simultaneously and could not use shared antennas, so the receivers couldn't be racked together (even though they came with rack ears) which was quite frustrating to learn.

Thanks for the video on these mic’s. I installed 6 of the EW-D Lav’s and an EW-D ASA splitter with fins last November in one of our worship spaces. The space already had 10 EW- 100’s and 4 of the EW-D’s have been working fine alongside of that installation. The 2 unit that had to rely on their little antenna rod’s kept having dropout issues, so I swapped those out with 2 channels of Axient digital from one of the other worship spaces. Not exactly an even trade, but in the end everything weorks and all is well. The takeaway that I have found with the EW-D series, is to use their EW-D Splitter with fins, or the half wave antenna as you are using. Other than that, the quality is what you would expect from Sennheiser and the price is a steal.

With the little I know and research I’ve done on getting a budget mic, I’d recommend getting a shure pgxd (or slx d if you have more money to spend) and se V7 mc1 capsule, I’d also recommend avoiding all shure blx, glx wireless system, the drop all the time and you cannot change their capsule to suit you.

I went the opposite direction, and instead of getting new Sennheiser microphones for close to $2000, I managed to get 3 G2 handhelds, 1 G2 Belt pack and 3 G2 True Diversity Receivers for around $200 (a tenth of the price). They are in the "E" range of frequencies (830-865 MHz Ch66-Ch70), which limits me to 4 channels in the Licence exempt range.

Not trying to add to the debate but there are levels of quality to these products and having gone from cheap mics myself, you can definitely tell the difference between the two and get what you pay for, BUT, to the Churchfront guys, I would highly recommend substituting the word "budget" for "affordable" because although this is considered cheap in the world of higher end products, it's certainly not affordable to many other people. I was able to purchase 4 Sennheiser XSW wireless mics with receivers for the cost of one of these and they work absolutely perfectly.

These EW-D receivers and their respective transmitters are for use of brevity cutting edge, and therefore while you can mention the levels of quality that have existed before, these almost certainly compete with higher end systems from both Sennheiser and Shure, from it's lack of intermod to its industry leading 1.9ms of latency which digital receivers costing thousands of dollars can't reach, the EW-D system should absolutely be the go to for those on a budget. As for telling the difference, vox wise, these are compatible with a multitude of capsules ranging from $100 to $1000, so there's a great amount of options based on your needs

Shure for now have too budget series name SLXD - cost is similar. I really like these EW-D. I bougth 3 for my church 3 months ago. One thing bad with them and in the same time it is good is that bluetooth connection. In other things we have ethernet connection and with it we take from producer (from shure and sennheiser) an app for choosing frequency and monitoring them. I not really trust every time auto scan and with that mic I had a problem with frequencies from auto scan. But in the same time you have that app for bluetooth with battery monitoring and controlling the source. For me perfect way was to give to this receiver an ethernet port too, but this is only one what I am not a fan of and still this is really the best idea with that price (or SLXD, but this mic is really often not available).

Not sure I agree with your frequency comment, the EW-D has a built in RF signal level monitor which allows you to see if a frequency isn't completely open, if you'd like to see more, you can open a frequency analyzer on a laptop or desktop and manually set the frequency on the EW-D to an open frequency manually.

Have to agree this isn’t “budget” at $700 per mic. A Shure BLX system is $429 for mic and receiver with a dual pack (2 channel receiver with mics) costing about $600. Reliable for most situations. Comparing to the Axient series to call this “budget” is a bit out of touch.

It definitely is budget if you’re trying to buy multiple high quality wireless mics that can handle professional settings and environments. If the choice is truly on budget, there are 200$ mics that could be recommended that will be just fine for wireless usage for talking and simple worship leading with a single instrument. When you increase and expand the usage and type of setting that these mics will be used in, the mindset for budget is different than I’d you were simply trying to use in a very stripped down way.

  • @QuincyValentine

    @QuincyValentine

@@sgttallbear keep in mind the price range of the mics I mentioned. The Shure BLX SM58 mics systems can have up to 12 mics on each band. There are 4 different bands sold. The signal range is 300’. And they sound fine. Just as you would expect an SM58 to sound. (I use 6 of them at my church) And even that is relatively expensive for the average church. So that begs the question about the Churchfront audience. Are they targeting primarily the Churches with extremely large budgets? Because those are the only churches a $700 mic would be a “budget” option for. Call it a good option for churches that can afford it and you have a really nice microphone review.

People who are complaining this not being budget are clueless. If you’re serious about live worship, you’re using KMS 105 and DPA de:facto anyways. Wireless is always gonna be expensive. Watch Bethel on Sundays, they’re always using hardwired because that’s always going to be better than even Shure axient or Sennheiser 6000 or 9000 systems.

By "if you're serious" you must mean, if you have a very large budget. I am very serious about live worship, but my church is small and therefore does not have the finances to buy several $800+ microphones. We do the very best we can with the small budget we have and take leading worship to the best of our abilities very seriously. Very elitist sounding to make that judgment about churches.

@@CraigMosheraudioengineer It's not elitism, if you aren't able to spend $700 on a single wireless microphone, you shouldn't buy any as you're going to have drop outs and your speaker is going to get frustrated as well as the audience when they aren't able to hear to the speaker. A $10 cable is going to beat even the top of the line wireless receivers in the $6000 range per channel.

Budget, is relative, as others have commented.. What is not relative is quality, which these systems deliver on.. As I mentioned in my other comment, I am using several of these alongside a pair of Axient channels and another 10 channels of EW-100's. Yes there is a quality difference, but by the time the service has been captured, processed, and encoded for broadcast/ or encoded for streaming you would be hard pressed to be able to tell the difference in an AB comparison.

This is where we get the term “budget” all wrong. Are we comparing high end mics to higher upper echelon mics or are we considering the ministry who who has a limited budget on music tech. For those who can’t afford this, shure axxient or a Dpa capsule, I Recommend getting a shure pgxd wireless system and a sE V7 mc1 capsule ( mic capsule used at bethel). You’d probably save 200-300 dollars depending on where you are.

The Gospel: Plain and Simple “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” - 2 Corithians 11:3 Ask someone today if they are saved and you will most likely hear responses like these: “I have accepted Jesus into my heart.” Or “I have made him Lord of my life.” “I’ve been baptized.” “I said a prayer.” Sounds all good and churchy don’t it; but it is difficult to de-termine whether or not a person actually knows the gospel that saves them. These use￾less phrases don’t describe a thing about what the gospel is and has left a devastating effect of people not knowing what it is that they are saved from nor how they are saved; which leaves a more serious effect of people ques￾tioning their salvation. Let’s not muddy the simplicity of salva￾tion that is in Christ with vague church sounding phrases that do not communicate anything. But rather present God’s word with clarity and assuredness. So here is the gospel: plain and simple. Sin was passed upon all men by one man Adam, and death is a consequence of this sin (Rom 5:12). Mankind has an eternal destiny of condemnation and wrath - Hell - because of this sin (Rom 6:23). No matter what good works one might do we are still found sinners in the sight of our Creator God. And all un￾righteousness and those who follow get in￾dignation and wrath. We cannot be found righteous for by God’s law we are found sin￾ners (Rom 3:19-20). If we have broken even one law we are found guilty. It is for this reason of not being able to create our own righteousness and being born in a sinful flesh that we need a savior (Titus 3:5). Christ is that Savior, God manifested in the flesh, sinless, died in our place on a cross 2000 years ago. Taking upon him the wrath and judgement that was intended for us sin￾ners. And it is through his bloodshed, burial, and resurrection on our behalf that we are able to have peace with God and forgiveness of our sins (1 Cor 15:1-4, Col 3:14). This good news is unto all but only those that believe in it are made righteous in Christ (Romans 3:22). It is then after we have heard this good news of Christ’s righteousness available to us freely, that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit and we are now part of Christ’s body the church (Eph 1:13) There is nothing that we need to do, no good works that are required, and no bad works that can separate us from our new po￾sition in Christ (Romans 8:35-39). Faith and belief in this information from God’s word is the gospel. The gospel is not accepting Jesus into your heart. The gospel is not making him lord of your life, it is not saying a prayer and it is not being baptized with water. So next time someone asks you if you are saved. Give them the clear assured answer “Yes! And let me tell you why!” Find more free resources at: www.graceambassadors.com
