    Wisconsinite here. Love 💓 your build. I am excited to see all the rest of your videos. How did you make the cutout above the bed for the storage. I dig the shower system. Love a fellow Wisconsinite! So for the shelving above the bed we basically just anchored 2x4s directly into the bus wall for support and then screwed our shelves into those. We made our 3 separate shelves out of additional 2x4s and 1/4 inch plywood. These shelves were then anchored together and anchored to the dividing walls on both sides for extra support. Thanks for the feedback! Honestly my hand was just me hitting the record and stop button each time lol, but I'll keep it in mind for future videos!

    I love you bus! Do you have a heat source? Is the bus insulated? Thanks for the tour!

  • @healthytrails6798

    @healthytrails6798

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Gregory! At the moment we're chasing the weather and trying it out with no heater. We did look into a few different heating methods and if we do end up needing something we were leaning into the diesel heaters. They're fairly cost effective and I've heard good reviews. This is the one we were looking at: amzn.to/3akMnGg. I've also seen quite a few people with wood burners in their rigs which would be super cool if we only had the space. As for insulation, this is a fairly controversial topic. We'd heard quite a few people claim that it didn't make much of a difference so we left it as is. Skoolies are still going to have a decent amount of stock insulation and considering that most of the bus is single pane windows anyway, we weren't sure it'd be worth the cost and hassle. Hope that helps!

  • @serenakoleno9338

    @serenakoleno9338

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes, I read that the problem with insulation is it won't cool down easily on cool summer nights, nor heat up easily on sunny winter days. Of course depends how extreme the weather situation is for you.

    I am from WI. as well and am gathering info on building out a bus by watching a kazilloon KZread videos. I am surprised you can tolerate the sweltering humidity we are plagued with in the summertime. I think I'll need air conditioning. Have you attempted to live in the bus during winter? What do you use to heat it?

  • @healthytrails6798

    @healthytrails6798

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes, another Wisconsinite, love it! Trust me, I definitely know the struggle of hours at KZread University to come up with ideas lol. We were able to manage so far with just opening all the windows and running fans, but we also had decent weather so we’ll see what happens next summer 🤷🏻‍♂️ AC would be awesome but for us it was pricey to start off with and would require either a generator or ALOT bigger battery bank/solar set up. We also plan on chasing the sun and haven’t needed heat yet (needless to say we won’t be in wisco for winter lol) but I think if we need it we’re going to try the diesel heaters.

    I am concerned for your safety. The surplus gasoline is too close to the propane tanks. Should not BOTH be in their own fire retardant boxes far from each other? Otherwise the build is economic and quite neat!

  • @healthytrails6798

    @healthytrails6798

    2 жыл бұрын

    Good catch Amy! So I should have clarified in the video for safety purposes you should never drive without closing the propane tanks and sealing those containers first. I believe if this is done there shouldn’t be safety concerns with the propane being stored in that container. As for storing both the propane and gasoline in close quarters, we don’t actually have any extra fuel in the gas can at the moment (more an extra precaution if we were to end up stranded somewhere), but thanks for the great tip! I’ll be sure to look into how to properly store any extra fuel for the future!
