Budget LCR Meter Review: Proster BM4070 Unboxing & Test
Ғылым және технология
After the DIY LEDs project, I thought it was time to invest in a proper LCR meter - so I got myself a cheap and cheerful one from Aliexpress.
So far the meter seems to work pretty well, on very low inductance values you need to subtract the inductance of the leads. You can get the one I've got from Aliexpress (affiliate link):

If it works OK for that price, it would be something ... Happy new year, Chris.

So far so good. It's basic, but seems to do the job.
The BM4070 is sold under several names. It has limitations but all in all, a good meter..
Would be nice to have a cheap lcr with variable frequency
So where is the review?
Lucky you. I got nothing for xmas, even from myself 😪
👍👍
I wish someone could test it against some known expensive brand, cause at that price it's really really tempting

Honestly, for the money it's *really* hard to beat the cheap ATMega based meters, I've checked mine against my Agilent U1733 and it's really good. Good enough that the Agilent lives in a cupboard and the £10 ATMega LCR lives on my bench. It's not great with low pF caps or low uH inductors but you can fool them into being a little more useful by measuring a larger value part, then putting the low value part in parallel (capacitors) or series (inductors) and subtracting the previously measured value.
