That's a pretty interesting concept, especially as it gives you extra top speed. Potentially then with some tinkering you could get the lower rpms making more power but does sound like a fiddly job.

Rejet pilot and main, needle lift, clipping spring, drilling carb slide, intake and exhaust were already done by that stage! Played with gap etc. Just found it was a better more alround bike with the stock tci. 👍

You might consider adding another shim or two under the needle, and go up one more size on the main. I'm running a 122.5 main and 20 pilot, with 3 washers under needle... I have an 08 xv250 and I live in Memphis,TN USA and my elevation is 380 ft and temp is in the upper 90s here (32+ c). I have a modified stock air box and filter, 2 into 2 shorty exhaust from amazon, carb slide mod, 16/38 gearing, and it pulls very hard to 65 mph (105kmh) and top out around 90 mph (145 kmh) in just under 0.5 km or a little over a 1/4 mile. Bike lacks some on top end and I am going to try this ignition on my bike and I think the bike will like 17/38 or even 17/36 more. I am hoping to get it to 100+ mph (160 kmh) with the ignition mod and some aero mods like a lower cowl scoop and a small windscreen.

Just a little tip man try 17/38 it blew my mind i ride in some steep hills here in GA So far engine wise i've done a large pancake air filter mod uses a high flow filter running open 2 stage exhaust 1 1/16" primary pipe into 2 1/2" duals out the rear to the rear tire Carb wise ported from 26mm to 28mm Jets are 120-20-2xshims Cams where done local got specs from a fellow xv250 rider they are .208/.208 had to do a little bit of grind work for clearances but increased the power a good bit just make sure you get the cam timing right also the bike cruises at 87mph no issues but i'd rather not ride a a light weight bike past that lol little to fast for me on a little "250"

Difference between SRV and XV engines not only in TCI, cam shafts are more sporty on SRV, so if you wanna pump your XV engine with SRV TCI you would need SRV cam shafts.

  • @iRidetas

Yeah, and dual carbs etc. I realise this but the tci was a way to get ignition advance easily, but I sold the bike before I got it dialed in and could buy cams for it.

  • @sheridancowling6257

The problem with running the SRV250 TCI in the XV250 is the SRV uses 2 BDS26 carbs instead of one and they got different cam profiles. To take full advantage of the SRV TCI you need the cams to suit and an additional carburetor or a larger single. I've tried looking for some SRV cams but none appear to be available which sucks as I've just swapped out my 67k km motor for a 9k km one and I want to rebuild the original motor to SRV specs.

srv tdi just has an advance of +5 on the timing to my knowledge. The real issue comes with the heads are different between xv250 and srv250 for those twin carbs. Not z simple swap unfortunately

If you use a change of sprockets to get power on the low end, then you have to take it away from the top end.
