Yes, Don Lanier. He was a great rock-a-billy guitarist. The fellow playing bass is Jimmy Bowen, who had several hits with this group, The Rhythm Orchids - "I'm Stickin' With You", "Ever Lovin' Fingers", "Warm Up To Me Baby", and "By The Light Of The Silvery Moon". Don played some great guitar on these. Jimmy Bowen later became a highly successful record producer for Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Dino, Desi, and Billy, and other artists. And Don Lanier played rhythm guitar on some of their hits!

I remember Buddy Knox first time round. Used to sing this when I was in a group.
Love this record
Nicest guy that ever had lived!!
Great song to dance to.
Great video of a great song.
Used to sing this to the cute Italian girl across the alleyway when I was 8 or 9.
The essence, the very definition of rockabilly.
great post who played that great solo.

The lead guitar player was Don "Dirt" Lanier.

My mother played this. A lot love it
Buddy does a little bit of the Buddy Holly hiccup now and then. Paharty doll, gahal, ever lohovin' . . . Loved this guy, didn't hear him much on the radio, bought the 45s, still have them.
This was recorded at the Norman Petty Studios in Clovis, New Mexico the same studios where Buddy Holly and The Crickets recorded much of their material. Produced and engineered by the man who was an engineering genius - Norman Petty.
Heavy Handed Drummer
Just found this one in its [Heavy] Orange vinyl version on Roulette. B-side is good too.

Bowen rode Buddy's coatails, couldn't sing or play bass worth a damn (too poorly to play on recordings). Bowen eventually connected with, I believe, RCA records and became a big time producer. I knew them both in college and found Bowen to be both unlikeable and arrogant.
***OK***
Very like Buddy Holly. What do you think?
In theory they really used a cardboard box to get the drum effect or so I was told
First glance I thought that was Elvis on the upright Bass lol

Here is Knox with the real Elvis, in mid 1958, when Elvis was living at a rented home in Killien TX, .while stationed at Fort Hood. I visited and entered the house in 2010 when my son was at Ft. Hood. PS Buddy had seen Elvis in Amarillo in 1955 and was one and a half years older. scontent.fmga3-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.6435-9/152996394_140871391341022_2632401402758317642_n.jpg?_nc_cat=107&ccb=1-5&_nc_sid=9267fe&_nc_ohc=WrFJl982hd8AX-PaLiv&_nc_ht=scontent.fmga3-2.fna&oh=00_AT9Gu8lwoOvoL7W7e11ptUgTKXG503PCdcEfyAUXIYYARg&oe=62696FB4

probably they wanted to post a video for this song and better to do that than just put up an audio / photos etc. I've done that kind of thing a few times in my posted videos.

No wonder this guy was a one #1 hit wonder. He is a combination of every rock singer that was there in 1957. And who told them to wear tuxedos?
